jiggerjake
If someone offered you a free rat and gave you a choice between the Nezzumma V-cut and the Johhny Rat,which way would you go ? Can you work the Nezzumma's under the surface ? Anyone have the V Cut ?
willsochill
I haven’t tried the v cut but all the other regulate Nez rats swim just sub surface. The Johnny rat does not crank it is strictly a wake bait.
Jinxd12
I am partial to my 2 piece xl nez rat, butttt....I have a toxic Mink I haven't thrown yet. Only heard good things.
SumoNinja
From my understanding nez rats are almost all cranks. They can go down a little, not too deep But nez do come in wakes also. The coffin lips are cranks, round one's a wake willsochill and Badfish562
bigpoppabass
Sweet pics. I own 2 giant nezs and luv em cuz I took a guy from caly fishing and he said one of his 10s was on one......but u don't want super custom rats, it is hard to beat a baby possum or a bucca rat. SumoNinja
I've personally had good success on the nez, micro mink and little Johnny Love all

surfk9
Honestly i have never fished these two....only commercially fished ones are bucca, matt lures rat and spro, they all work to different degrees ....IMHO Micro Mink ...gets the job done!!!...michel...Go Fish!! jiggerjake
Thanks all. So between the Nez and Micro Mink, which will work better as a crank-down ? I've been following the "best crankdown" thread as well ! Edited February 5, 2020 by jiggerjake

I've been following the "best crankdown" thread as well ! Between those two I would say the Mink is the better cranker. Another cranking rat that doesn't get much attention its the Mattlures rat. It's not a loud, thumping type; it's more on the quiet side. You can wake it but I think I caught 90% of my fish in it by cranking. Another rat I fish underwater is the old Rago Generic rat- the thing about that one is you only have one treble which helps around heavy cover both before and after you get a fish on.
