bwhit162
What's everyones go to bait, time of year, and depth for land locked striper? Preferably the southeastern guys chasing the fish that aren't munching trout plants. I fish from murray, SC to rhodhiss,NC live in charlotte. I can catch them trolling but want to start getting them on big baits.
Delta_fisher
Start chucking big baits and keep a log book. Find out what works and what doesn’t. Capitalize on what worked out and ditch what didn’t. you’ll find patterns real quick if you keep an accurate log. Queue
6th sense flowglide 130 has been killing it for me in SoCal.....in a lake currently without a significant shad population and where nearly all anglers targeting stripers are chasing a trout truck. AzjoefishSb
What about chasing for big strippers from shore ? I’ve been trying to learn Powell n have been working deep ledges n the docks with big glides n paddle tails but haven’t hooked into anything big , I’ve done about 11 trips up so far , kept a log book but feel a lil lose , seems the strippers around the docks have been focused on small tiny fry . Any tips would help out a lot!
Delta_fisher
Landlocked stripers are a much different animal than river or ocean fish. If they are eating small fry you better be throwing a bait to mimick the fry otherwise your pissing in the wind StriperAddict and browniez
StriperAddict
I second what @Delta_fisher said. I fish the colorado river and lake mohave for striper and certain times of year if they are just slurping very small shad they generally wont even look at bigger baits. Its frustrating because I dont throw little paddle tails and sometimes thats what they are keyed on. Good luck and keep on chuckin!
norcalkat
there is a lot of factors when it comes to fishing them from a lake. matching the profiles to what they are use to seeing is going to be key. Ive finessed them on 3" flukes and in other places ive done well on big glides. come to think of it, ive caught em on a lot of different baits, profile and size is super important.
