DirtySouthGlide
Hey fam just a reminder be extra safe while fishing during this COVID 19 pandemic. Forced to go to ER. 1/2” of bass spine broke off in my hand and we cant get it out. Be safe with your hooks and fish boys. Don’t let a silly mistake force you to expose yourself to COVID19! DirtySouthGlide
What you see is the tip of the spine. It came in the top hole, pierced through and broke off inside. Edited March 21, 2020 by DirtySouthGlide
tybo jones
Gotta be super careful with those. There’s some strong bacteria on fish spines that can lead to massive infection. Heard stories of guys getting poked by striper spines in the northeast. Keep an eye on it man. DirtySouthGlide

Yeah I know lots of people who have gotten infections from striper spines, including myself, that’s why I always have some iso on the boat! @DirtySouthGlide ouch man that’s a painful way to ruin the day! Hope it was at least a big one, and hope it heals up quick and you can get back out before we’re all under mandatory quarantine hahaha DirtySouthGlide
GreenPig
I'd cut it out, clean it, and sew it up/glue it myself before going to the ER at this time. My wife's had Lyme and I can't risk bring that mess home with her comprised immune system. Not saying you were wrong by going to the ER and I'am being extra careful out there. Hope you heal up post haste.

Better to use glue if you don't have sterile sutures. Edited April 5, 2020 by hydrocephalic
GreenPig
A short length of Berkley Fireline 2 lb test works fine as sutures after a alcohol bath.
