TRUE dobyns rod rating and recomendations

Ended up sending this to a fellow member and considering it is such a frequently asked topic i figured i might as well post it for others as well.  While dobyns arent true to their ratings at all, that has basically nothing to do with the quality of the rod, as long as you know what rod to get for what baits you are golden.  keep in mind these are TRUE tried and true ratings, and although many go outside of these recommendations because of a limited number of rod and reels setups for the variety of baits they own or are able to make a treble rod work for softbaits with braid or make a softbait rod work with trebles with a super stretchy mono, these recommendations are based off of the use of 17-25lb izorline xxx copoly which has little stretch (not to be confused with no stretch).   

the 765 is best for jighook baits from 1-3 ounces.  The 794 is best for treble hook baits between 1-2 ounces where the 795 is best for treble hook baits between 2-3 ounces. the 806 is best for treble hook baits between 3-5 ounces, the 807 is best for jighook baits between 3-5 ounces. the 867 is best for treble hook baits between 3-8 ounces. the 908 is best for treble or jighook baits up to roughly 12 ounces.

Had someone on Microskiff.com recommend the Dobyns to me for an inshore casting swimbait setup and he essentially said "size up a bit" and that I'd be fine. Thanks for the feedback as this corroborates that.
