Weighs 147grams and rated to 10.5oz... almost seems impossible until you fish it. It’s amazing. that thing can cast up to 10.5oz??
Cranky
It definitely can. I’d say the sweet spot is like most JDM rods with that rating, 4-8 oz is most comfortable. Chazzy
Cranky
It’s not released yet but if you’re into really high end stuff, keep an eye out for the new 2021 Evergreen 6’5” Kaleido Inspirare “Big Bait Short” rated to 300gm (10.5oz). It was just announced today at the Japan expo. Will be the first rod rated that high *that I’m aware of* that uses the highest end Toray nano materials (T1100G, etc). If you own any conventional rods with T1100G you can imagine this is going to be a really really interesting big bait rod, especially as a shore rod. https://www.evergreen-fishing.com/news_html/2021products_bass.php#inspirare Chazzy and Jon P 1

JRob
Just ordered and awaiting arrival of the Legit Wild Side 64XH “Big Bait Finesse” rod rated to 3.5 oz. I love my Megabass P5 “Killer Code” for its ability to throw smaller swimbaits in tight. Very versatile rod as well. The concept captivated me enough to try the wild side as well. I’ll keep you posted. Jon P and BigBaiter
rwp
I have a blank on the way to do some prototyping with. It'll be somewhere around 6'5" when it's built up. 1-3.5oz lure rating, moderate fast action. JRob

Bassjam2000
I've been fishing the Daiwa ttu731hrb-sb (new for 2021 tatula, not the dx's) this year and find it very versatile. I live mostly in the 1.5 to 2oz range fishing (relatively) smaller glides, wakes, and rats. At 7'3" I find the length perfect for target casting, pitching around boat slips/cover, working lures with the rod, etc. while still getting all the distance I've ever needed. For those of you that use standard presentations too It'll cast pretty well down to about an ounce, I've thrown the strike king 4.0 magnum squarebill on it (7/8oz), and 3/4oz+trailer chatterbaits and spinnerbaits, deep cranks, in addition to 1 to 2.5oz swimbaits. It's rated "up to" 4 oz but I haven't tested the upper range of it's rating, it feels as though it would requiring lobbing beyond about 3oz. Imagine a shorter dobyns 795. Sensitivity, lightness, and balance feels above average to me considering it's price (about $189.00). fishratt
Short swimbait rods actually seem like a really good idea. When you think about it, accuracy is much more important than casting distance, at least the way I fish.

JRob
I have a new favorite short SB rod. 22 Shimano Expride 66XH-SB. It’s technically a 2 pc (blank and handle). So far loving the action and light weight. Using a Shimano Bantam MGL with 20lbs Sunline sniper. Handled fish to 4 lbs so far. Regular action , but short blank. Power is not an issue. Need more time for full review, but amazingly light for such a short powerful rod. Not heavy in hand like the 6oz Legit Wild Side rod…. When you think about it, accuracy is much more important than casting distance, at least the way I fish. Whenever I watch videos of guys swimbait fishing out of bass boats I'm always looking at all the shoreline cover that they just breeze past without really fishing. Opting to cover large areas of water in front of just the juiciest cover. Especially places like Lake Austin where there's so much shoreline timber and overhanging brush. Whenever I'm on the shoreline in spots like that I'm picking apart every little nook and cranny that your could stuff a 5lb fish in, sometimes only a meter is the difference between sticking a pig and just cruising past. Same reason that I prefer bass fishing out of my canoe than my jet boat. Really can't be that surgical with an 18' 1-ton barge of a boat. If I get this short swimbait set up dialed, it'll be a game changer!
JRob
I am loving the tactical side of short range swimbait fishing. The new 22 Shimano Expride 66XH-SB is sweet! It has been a beast of a rod for yanking fish out of cover quickly. Spent the day fishing smaller glides, Bull Shad 4X4, and 1/2 oz jigs today. Tons of fun!
