CaliBassin
I have seen it happen multiple times to others but I finally did it. Dropped a rod today and the guide insert popped out. I would fish it as is but without the insert it will fray my line pretty bad. I am just curious if there is any way to put the insert back in or fix it so that I do not have to replace the whole rod? From what i can see, it is a tad too wide to simply push back into place. Any info is appreciated. Thanks
MattGbaz
you can take it to a good tackle shop and they should be able to repair it in 5min. CaliBassin

MA Frog Man
They just take the guide off and rewrap it. No need to replace the rod. CaliBassin
_jeffe_33
There's YouTube videos on replacing guides that are really helpful. I've done 3 so far, just with jb weld epoxy and sewing thread. The only thing that I would say helps a lot is having a fly tying bobbin, makes wrapping so much easier. CaliBassin
bigpoppabass
I have tried to reinsert and squeeze the guides, sometimes even add some crazy glue in there. But I have concluded when thing pops it is done. CaliBassin

Jinxd12
I carry super glue for this exact reason. I'm hard on my equipment, especially hiking around in the desert. Make sure you don't lose the insert! I'm fishing 2 rods a megabass and a Dobyns both tip guides fell out. Super glued them been fishing for over a month with no line issues. I'll get them replaced when I have time. Goodluck!! CaliBassin

Just a tad too wide for me to glue and press in

Never fits perfect, but you can fish it!
Csweitzer
Heat the metal guide, freeze the insert, add super glue, it’ll fit. NORTHERN_GLIDER and CaliBassin
CaliBassin
How much does it usually cost to get the guide completely replaced? Found a tackle shop that will do it but just wanna make sure i don’t get ripped off
thedonnguyen
$10-15 should do it...honestly, it's cheaper than losing baits CaliBassin
