First river trip of the summer

Went out on the first river trip of the summer looking for pike or maybe a muskie. Fished with the big stuff for most of the day, throwing the 8" magdraft, waver 200 and an 8" walking bait. Getting one blowup on the walking bait right at touchdown. I assumed it was a smallmouth and made a plan to come back with the 6" magdraft on my way back to the car. I did get one smallie, but when I returned to that slot, I found out it was a dink pike. Honestly pretty happy with my trip, was really just looking to get a few fish to get some practice in with my new muskie net.

That treble on the Magdraft looks like it needs a little attention...

Hahaha, actually that is on purpose. I bent that shank out so that the hook held in the body better. I believe Chris Zaldain has talked more in depth about it

Yeah, I have heard about that, just didn't even think about it.

Works wonders, especially when you get one with a crappy magnet. I do it to all my magdrafts/magslowls

Nice! I gotta throw soft baits more

Softies are my go-tos for pike, it's a real shame that they get ripped apart. This dink took a chunk out of the magdraft, mend-it is a must
