Loudsplashbassn_
Anyone else find themselves cutting about a foot or two of line after every trip ? I know i heard about it on the cast and crank podcast but beileve he said he cuts off 6ft or so kinda sounds like overkill with that much wasted line lol Shaddaddy1979 and DrewManFishing
Mossyback Angler
I used to cut off line due to putting a potential kink in the fluorocarbon at the top guide from using the hook keeper. Maybe that's the reasoning behind the 6' recommendation. Now I use Rapid Fishing Solutions line clips. I can cut off the lure and either store the line at the tip of the rod or, my preference at the reel. However, I'm constantly checking my line for wear and tear. Been burned too many times not doing this and not retying. So in the end, I do cut off some line, but not 6'. rwp
Between 3 and 30 feet every trip. Sometimes in the middle of a trip too. Toro blanco and Loudsplashbassn_

That's a lot of line lol I run 100 feet of mono on braid. I replace the mono fairly often, but it's cheap. Line gets beat where I fish. ricardo
I do like a 100 ft, because every other cast I’m in some sort of dock, bush, tulles, tree or rock pile Loudsplashbassn_, rwp and FishDr
tHeINFamoUS
I always strip 5-15’ of mono off before I retie, for the above mentioned reasons. I respool after every 4-5 trips, mono is inexpensive so it’s not a big deal. Loudsplashbassn_
FishDr
If you take the time to run your hand along the line before you start fishing, you might be surprised how far from the lure you’ll find nicks and rough spots. I definitely cut the line above those, because if I hook a big fish on a long cast, or have a fish big enough to pull out line to that spot, I don’t want to pop the line and lose the fish because of it. dheath2
When I fished more mono I’d respool every trip. But running straight fluoro it’s around once a month. If braid to leader just tie a new leader ever trip. CG_Fishes
bigpoppabass
I eyeball the connection after each trip. It is usually easy to see problems. I probably give braid too much overuse but I will do a pull it if I see a little fray on it. But I usually have an 8 weave tied on. Throwing big baits stretches line over and over and mostly the first 10-15 feet so I pull off that much before every trip. Inspect line often and retie a few times during the day. DrewManFishing
one thing I do to save line is to store my reels with the line all the way reeled up, so I don’t have any issues with the top guide putting a kink in the line.
