Ben at the hookup says it’s very similar in action to the TS blackjack and it’s rated up to 5.2oz so theoretically it could work for the K9 and JC 230 which are both around 4oz. another neat rod to look at is the Cookai CK-710EXHC. It’s a 2pc sea bass rods that specs similar to the VKC-711XH-4 but build on a P5 blank. Buy this rod it’s so perfect I can’t hype it enough throws the wade hoggs and K9 like a dream and could probably handle baits above the suggested 5.2oz. Like all Megabass rods it’s super well made with sturdy durable guides and the taper is very unique, I throw braid on mine for extra hook-setting power on long casts and I’ve landed 10+ dinks on it so far with a 100% hook to land ratio and I credit it’s soft tip. Above all else it’s a joy to fish and I’m a fan of its old school atheistics Edited July 15, 2022 by Swimbait302 chevro1et
chevro1et
@Bassmann86 @Swimbait302 I found the VKC-711XH-4 for a very good price on Amazon Japan and pulled the trigger on it. Thanks for the input, guys. Edited July 16, 2022 by chevro1et Swimbait302

I'm actually looking for a travel rod for K9 / GanCraft 230 so maybe I keep looking for now. I've already got one that does the job but isn't really optimal. I recently got a BPM No Limits XH and it’s rated 2-8oz. I’ve thrown up to 9” bull Shad glide with it but I won’t go much heavier than that. The action is great for trebles in my opinion, and I’d imagine it’ll throw K9 size stuff pretty easy.

It throws my Legend, 250 and Big chief just fine. I’ve caught freshwater peacocks on the 250 and papio on 7” jerkbaits in the salt. In terms of ergonomics, looks, and quality, it is definitely worth the $310 on eBay. How do you think the 800XXH will do with fully loaded A-rigs right around the 4oz range or do you think it would be wise to step down to the 711XH?
