Following the birth of Swimbait Underground in 2010, the Battle of the Underground began shortly after during the beginning of 2011. Initially, members could enter their fish every month to get their shot at the monthly prize and be entered into the Battle. Since then it has been changed to only allow one monthly win per member so we have 12 entrants into the Battle The first 3 years big fish won both monthly and the Battle. In November of 2014 the handicap system was implemented so that the traditional big bass states would not dominate every tournament. Doing so ensured that the entire community could participate.
