big swimbait dog
The thing I have noticed with the daiwa Lexa reels is that it can be a swing and miss or home run. I've had a few of the 300's and 400's not the new HD ones. I had two shitty reels where you go to cast and the reel sounded like a coffee grinder. Got it replaced and worked like any other reel. Had the same thing happen a couple months later on another 300. Overall good reels for the price. I use my 400 for yellowtail fishing and it handles them pretty good so the reels have some guts to them. Zigtherat
Zero complaints about the 300 I have. I'm in PA so i'm not dragging in teeners or any giant baits but seems like it would handle that just fine.
Ceaser
cheap reel thats pretty good with some upgrades. A spool bearing swap and replacing the bushing under the spool tension knob with a bearing and i have had yet to have a failure on any of my 300s. But i don't throw anything over 5-6ozs on it either. Some friends have had some issues, but daiwa repaired them and they haven't had any problems since. Its a good reel for its cheap price point IMO Edited March 17, 2017 by Ceaser

kennebecstripers
I have the 300HD and really like it. It's built well and the drag is awesome. That said, can't go wrong with Shimano.
