In my mind Sharpie dots don’t add $100+ to the the value of a bait. Now if he had done the dots with a toothpick... then I would think $400 was a steal!7 points -

unfortunately the hard truth is prices on all his hard baits are going to continue to go up and up and up until they don’t sell anymore.Which will almost never happen. As long as guys are there to pay that price things will stay that way.And not bashing on him or the guys paying for it.If you have the money for that I am mad jealous lol.And good for him to be able to capitalize on that.Just sucks because a lot of guys would kill for the bait but don’t have that kind of money.4 points -

“OG” ?
lmv_bassfishing and 3 others reacted to waynem for a topic
Its pretty specific to individual baits. For example the OG version of a Deps 250 swims better than then newer injected version. On the other hand the newer injected version of the Deps 175 seems to swim better than the OG. With Lunker Punkers the OG versions walk very well but the 2nd version had lots of problems with baits not being balanced properly. Sometimes the OG thing gets carried away. People look for old Slammers thinking they are somehow better but the Slammer addicts will tell you the year produced doesn't matter- they are all slightly different regardless of age.4 points -
Coastal Lures 5” Parrain Swimbait
Coastal Lures and 2 others reacted to chefchris for a topic
*Disclaimer: I have no affiliation with this company, it’s owners or products, and was not compensated in anyway for this review or use of the product. This is a first impression of the bait and overall design and customer service. Was able to pick these up this past weekend from Coastal Lures. Had been seeing em on IG and FB and thought the design was unique. I’m not a fan of waiting on drops/batches but just happen to check out the site and grabbed the last two packs, got lucky. Bait is 5” and weighs .92oz (weighed on a certified gram scale) I rigged mine on a 6/0 1/4oz beast hook, with the hook bait weighs 1.15oz. They recommend a 5/0 or 6/0 hook. Head is solid enough to support the corkscrew without worry. The head also has a faint center like which helped get the screw lock in the right position. Bait is hand injected and hand painted, is also clear dipped to the first hole in the bait about 2/3 of the bait is dipped, you can see it in the pics. The clear is about a dime or penny thickness depending on the area of the bait. The color of this one is simply “purple baitfish” figured it would be a good match for our herring and other baitfish here in New England. They have a garlic scent to help mask any plastic/paint smell, it definitely doesn’t smell like paint at all! Deep hook pocket, holographic eyes, nice details on the fins/body and tail. Had messaged the owner Aaron on IG about some questions/rigging and he was polite/prompt and answered all my questions. He use to make these baits just for himself and friends and people saw em on FB and started requesting them and he started making them available to the public. He has a 7” in the works too. Its a unique bait, with the tail design, holes in the body to add action and the clear dip on the first 2/3 of the bait which adds shine and makes the bait more durable. They were $12 for a 2 pack. Shipping was a few bucks and had em in 2 days. I’ll be out fishing em this weekend and will get some video and hopefully some fish on em. I’ll update the post by Monday. Thanks -Chef3 points -

This was the frog that won the 2018 iCast Fresh Water Lure. Think it would be a sweet little wake bait to add to the arsenal. For $30 I’d give it a try. TW has them in stock https://www.tacklewarehouse.com/Westin_Fishing_Freddy_The_Frog_Wakebaits/descpage-DAFR.html2 points

Rock Crawling with Toxic
Caldeltarat and one other reacted to thastickybandit for a topic
The Wade Hoggs has been lights out for me so far this year. If you own one of these baits and it is sitting on a shelf you are truly missing out. Basically I have just been fishing this like a giant square bill. The ability of this bait being able to crawl over rock or really any other structure is nice. Knowing what it is capable has made throw it in a lot of places I wouldn't normally throw other baits to likely hang up. Seems like every bite I have had on it this year has come after it has crawled over something. I have swapped the hooks to Mustad KVD 2/0 short shanks. I also changed my setup that I fished it on as well. Im fishing it on the Dobyns 867, daiwa z2020 6.4,20 pound fluoro.2 points -

Protecting Klash Paint...experiment!
SoCalBassBum and one other reacted to Jinxd12 for a topic
Fished it for a few more hours today, no bites. Couldn't get it to go side to side. Would always just turn right and swim funky. ALMOST call it quits but... Figured it out, the bottom hinge was out of whack. Had to unscrew the pin. Took forever with a Leatherman! Swims side to side much better now but I think I need to do it one more time. Good enough for now. Used your methods @bassbass, this will definitely take more time than most my other baits to figure out.2 points -
Was a tough bite out on the lake today. Was still able to get two big fish, one was on a jig and the other was on a swimbait which made it much better!2 points

I just ordered another wake jr last pre-sale at $150 and thought that was getting steep. $399 is laughable, but that's the beauty of free market. Market price. Reminds me of "Market price" at restaurants. I think you'll find (at least I have in my case) his soft baits out produce almost any hard bait I have ever fished. Hell, If I wasn't on a teacher's budget I would probably buy one.2 points -
I see the point, but if he wanted to cut out flippers then $300 would have been enough.2 points

Maybe he's tired of just selling out so quickly. If markets willing -he's ready! Maybe some will be left for other people who to buy. Sounds like a smart game plan for him to be honest. Some people will fork out the cash. He literally just cut out the flippers on this one.2 points -

Soft Glidebait line thru
5150KokaneeEaters reacted to greenhornet for a topic
So after much debate I’ve finally decided to let go of what I’ve held onto for several years. A soft glidebait line-through. I’ve been making these for quite sometime. It has been a love hate relationship but I believe I have them ready for the public. What you see is what I’m willing to get rid of currently. I also have a few more options coming in the near future but aren’t quite ready (larger size, and weedless options) colors are limited to white, black-ish, pink and chartreuse. Ideally im looking to trade for other grassroots baits. I’m a school teacher and I want to inspire others to push the envelope in bait making. This journey has been fun but I want to share it with others. A swim video can be seen on my Instagram @david__cody Specs: 5.3 inches long tuneable sink rates ss to floating any questions feel free to shoot me a message.1 point -
I’ve spent more on baits before but this one I just can’t bring myself to pull the trigger on. I love the bait and have been wanting one in a trout pattern for a long time but I just can’t do it for some reason.1 point

Exactly. Just remove the hooks, hook hangers, eyelet, joint connectors, then cut the bait in half and replace the internal hardware. Then throw it away cause it's still jumk.1 point
