    I was fishing Melones a few years back in January actually when we had heavy rains and rapidly rising water levels. There were trout roaming the bank and bass not too far behind. Found them staging in newly submerged trees, my guess to wait for an easy meal to swim by or to rummage for crawfish. I'd run a crankdown through any shallow hard cover or a glide parallel to open shoreline.

    Went out last night and threw a 7.5 inch truebass around for a few hours working down the bank with no bites. Tied on a miyagi and after a couple casts got smacked. Caught at about 1230. went 7.6 best fish of my life

    Got woken up this morning to a tornado alert. I knew a spot that gets really good action in heavy rain and increased water levels. Went out in the worst of the rain and it paid off with a mid 3, decent pickerel, and this high 4 low 5 bass. Seemed like she was putting on weight for fall.

    I just picked a MegaBass TS destroyer black jack and it has a pretty broad range. ive thrown plopper as 130 on it up 4 ounce rats and it def handle more. not a cheap rod but life is short. i also have an 867 and if u can deal with the length for transport and tight bank fishing situations it’s fairly versatile.
