Pike and Striper
aphaneuf16 and 2 others reacted to Fried Lemons for a topic
Watched this striper come up and inhale the swimmer. Such an awesome bite. However the highlight of my day was this pike. It was sitting in a little slack water pocket below a riffle and crushed the tiny klash. My previous best pike was a 24” dink so this one was quite the upgrade.3 points -
Great soft bait. I've caught a lot of quality fish on the 6" Fatty this season.3 points

Alternative to citizen soft swimbait
Unclefish4life and one other reacted to SVT THUNDER for a topic
Absolutely love them. I keep one rod rigged with one of their baits from 5-8” at all times. The fatty isn’t as wide as a Citizen, but it does have a large profile and a great swim. I prefer a 10/0 Beast when fishing it normal and a 12/0 on the rare occasion I’m dragging it along the bottom. I assure you it’s a great and proven bait.2 points -

NY bullshooter tank
ThatKidInNY and one other reacted to CG_Fishes for a topic
Went out with my buddy on a mission for tigers today. Within 10 cast I had this crazy fat 4-6 eat the bullshooter off a dock. My first fish on the bullshooter so I was happy. The next cast I had a tiger come out of nowhere and eat at the boat then come off soon after. Fished another 5-6 hours only moving 5 or 6 more bass with all swiping at the bait and missing. Hopefully I can get a few more trips in this fall2 points -
I'll assemble it very soon, I'd like to catch a fish on it before I send it off also 20220918_065833.mp42 points

Crankdown advice
Mashlab reacted to brootalititties for a topic
Mono also has mad stretch. Plus it floats. And has weak abrasion resistance. I run straight flouro wherever I can but especially cranking for all the reasons above. 20lb sublime or seaguar will do the trick. Use braid backing/flouro top shot to save flouro if you have a high line capacity real1 point -

Looking for advice on reel choice
cincinnatiking reacted to rwp for a topic
I question those specs, I've owned them both and I don't remember the diawa holding nearly double the line. I also think they are both rated to hold around 200 yards of 30lb braid, if I remember correctly. A Tatula 200 doesn't really compare to a Tranx/Curado 300. I think people underestimate the shimano 300's because the amount of performance they offer isn't utilized while bass fishing. They are the same reel for the most part and I've caught numerous fish over 50lbs on a Tranx, as well as know people who have landed sharks and tarpon well over 100lbs without issue.1 point -
Looking for advice on reel choice
cincinnatiking reacted to ikaika for a topic
The Curado 200 only holds 155 yards of 10lb mono.…the Tatula 200 holds 150 yards of 20lb. There isn’t a standard for what a “200” size reel necessarily means so you have to look at like capacity to get a meaningful comparison.1 point -

If you receive the t1pc, find your name and pass it down. If you receive the t2pc, find your name and pass it up. The list is officially closed, please do not include anybody extra. Now let's paint this thing. It has a black base with white fur, ready to be painted. Next 3 posts will decide fur colors, 4th post the nose and ears, 5th post the feet. I am not sure when I will get to do the live stream, I will be sure to make a post giving at least a 2hr notice. The package will include stickers for everybody on the list, so take 1 of each and pass the rest. @BayAreaAngler Included some bright stickers for tracing your bait in the water. I will include those back into rotation, help yourself to them. Thank you for signing up, I will repost the first post rules below this paragraph. Please refer to this post as the new first post. " This is somewhat of a contest also, as the person who catches the largest fish by the end of the tour will get to keep the bait. A wild card rule also, if you catch a 10+lb bass with video evidence, you can keep he bait and I will paint another to put into circulation starting where we left off." Picture evidence for the largest fish is necessary to win the rat, so upload your pictures on this page so its easy to keep track of!!1 point

@Jinxd12 for a great gill - I’ve honestly been having the best fall since I started throwing swimbaits - traditionally i struggle in the fall but this year I’m on a consistent bite with you waking gill day after day and I’m getting quality fish which is my personal mission with big baits. I’ve tried glide baits this fall and haven’t landed a single bass - alls they seem to want is your waking gill The season is still going on and I’m hoping to keep the flow going. Here’s a few pics of my best with your bait including a 22” healthy bass which isn’t all that common in NJ - and was only a few ounces shy of NJ PB. I hate to sound like an “ infomercial “ for ya but the results I’ve achieved with the 6” wake speak for themselves.1 point

Oregon Clear Water Smallies
frankthedog reacted to NKlamerus for a topic
Also an intro post, fishing clear water here in Oregon via the Umpqua or local ponds around Eugene Started with the smaller spro rat for smallmouth but quickly switched to the 50 to weed out the runts, they can't resist a run out from under shady limbs, not the best rat for current though.1 point -
Just started making these. First outing with it and a 4.5 and other good ones. FullSizeRender.MOV1 point
