1st ghost fish
NorthernBass4L and 5 others reacted to chefchris for a topic
I’ve owned and thrown the ghost on and off for the last 3 seasons, mostly fishing it as a big wake (no lip, whale tail up) and never fished it a lot or often. Always picked up other big baits and committed to them. Last year was the illude xl zombie rat, that was big bait of 2022. This winter I decided to commit to the ghost for the bait bait of 23, picked up a few to rig different ways. Well keeping it tied on and actually throwing it finally paid off with one of my top 3 eats of all time. was fishing from 3am to sunrise with no bites, at sunrise 5am, the trout started actively feeding in this rocky shallow flat, bass chasing em and breaking but wouldn’t touch the usual slammer/rats. decided to fire out the ghost and fish it fast and erratically, no bumpers, bottom line tie and v tail. Cast it out, burn it for a few cranks, pause, repeat and switch up the cadence on each retrieve. was burning and pausing it, and about 10’ from The boat this fish absolutely t bones it on the pause as the bait slide to the side. Fish thrashed around and tried to make one run, but no luck. A couple quick handle cranks and into the new she went. Wasn’t the biggest fish only a 3.2, but fat and feisty and a greatly needed confidence boost to keep throwing the bait. bait was fished on a nameless custom xxh (Rhode island themed colors) conquest 400 with 65lb braid to 30lb mono leader, drt toxic blk8nt collab ghost (which looks Way better in the water) hopefully can fool a few giants this year with it. All the lips and tails and a few other ghost rigged in different ways are packed for the rest of the season6 points -

Started out with air temp around 88 degrees, got a few small fish. Storm came through with some thunder and rain, temp dropped about 20 degrees. Stuck it out with no bits, stopped raining for a little but could see it was going to get bad again. So did the opposite of fishing back of a storm and throw the 9" BGC crank.....fish hit very lightly and stayed down, then could feel the weight and she came up, seeing the big head and shoulders was thinking she was bigger.6 points -

Thanks for posting this I almost pulled the trigger on one. I’ll hold off and wait to hear how this gets resolved. I think it’s ridiculous that these bait makers charge these crazy prices and then don’t take the time to make sure each bait runs true and swims the way it’s supposed to. That bait should’ve been testes before being sent to a paying customer. I’m getting back into the swimbait game after taking a few years off and I can’t believe how high the prices have gotten on baits it’s crazy! 20 years ago we only had a handful of bait makers and they kept prices reasonable. Now there’s literally hundreds of people making baits and charging stupid high prices just because they can, and you guys still are willing to pay it. Good for you for posting this, hopefully the bait maker will step their game up and make sure this doesn’t happen again.3 points -

Catfish on a k9
Huntersharp and one other reacted to Jake Olszewski for a topic
Caught this stupid thing while fishing which got me pretty hyped when it hit cause it hit it hard and had a great fight, then pulled it up and thought it was a big bass by the fat white stomach then it ended up being an 8lbs cat. Anyone else catch cats of any sort on glides? Especially bigger glides.2 points -

Worst decent fish ever
brootalititties and one other reacted to SwingAway for a topic
So, only started entering the SUB tourneys recently. Before that, it was just kbf tourneys with a single length pic and no bait or weight required. Hooked into a decent fish that measured 21" and was teetering around 6 lbs. on the scale. Like a rookie, I get the length pic with the bait, put her back in the net to breathe and drop my hoog 9.5 over the side to chill and get my scale ready. Long story short, the fish broke the scale grippers as I was letting the scale settle and started flopping in the yak. I was drifting into shore, so hit the peddles in reverse as I was trying to grab the fish off the deck. Get the fish, look down and realize my hoog had gotten wrapped in the prop and cut off, now sinking. So, nice fish, but a lost hoog trout, a busted scale lip grip, and no weight photo. That's what we call winning boys. FML.2 points -
Bigs Denali 8inch questions
LAST REEL and one other reacted to justintrask for a topic
Try holding the bait firmly with each half in one hand end applying firm steady pressure pushing down in the head section and up on the tail - I don't believe there is a pin in those you can easily pull to tune, but even a slight downward push on the nose section may be enough to get it to glide true2 points -

Outstanding Brian, solid fish. Well earned.1 point -
I’ve had a similar experience with a different builder. Hope he does you right because it’s very hard to tune a glide that noses up in my experience. You can always add weight but you shouldn’t have to paying 100$+ for a bait.1 point

Hudd ROF 5 or12
LureFlyingAcrossThePond reacted to bigpoppabass for a topic
Rof 12 is a must have since you can fish it like a jig. I have never gotten mojo on rof 5s. You get alot more tasters and followers on rof 5s than you do on rof 0 and 12s. I tend to see the fish more on rof 5s and they are usually not in attack mode.1 point -

I do remember Seth being in an ad for the reel. But yea for whatever reason it’s JDM only. I’ve ordered many reels from digitaka, only ever had one issue, and they took the reel back no questions asked and I didn’t pay a cent for return shipping.1 point -

Got some more work done: I poured molds, made a few prototypes, poured rubber fins, and did some swim testing. The swim is great for how far in to testing I am. Obviously because of the size of the lure, the glide is extremely wide. I really just need to work on stabilizing the bait because there is the slightest bit of body roll during the glide.1 point
