Swimbait PB
imightbefishing and 4 others reacted to Bugletube for a topic
New swimbait pb! 5.50 on the clickbait mini sonar in seed. Didn’t get length and girth because it was bleeding a bit and wanted to get it back in the water quickly. I fished this area several times and had lost a big one earlier in the day. After approaching from several different angles and attempting several different retrieves, I finally got this one to eat. Happy Independence Day!5 points -

Kinda a cool story on this fish, while reeling in a smaller fish I caught on a wacky rig, I saw this bass chasing down the small one I was reeling in. Continued fishing for another hour or two and came back with my new 86baits sentinel in the black bass color to the same spot. She t-boned it right where I spotted her earlier! 5.44 lbs and a new pb for me5 points -
Finnbait and real prey striper
Dink whisperer and 4 others reacted to Adonelan75 for a topic
Went out for a holiday trip with my brother and a few buddies. Bought the finnbait madhatter last week and couldn’t wait to put it to use! Thing had fish on it so hot they would miss 2-3 times then launch themselves out of the water to land on top of the bait. The most BadAss blowups I’ve ever seen! topwater cooled and I tossed on the real prey and she got chewed. happy 4th!5 points -
Started a smaller sized 5.5-6" Gill profile carving, very skinny and tall with the intent to get it to swim like my 8" Gill glide. I ended up with a carving that was real close to what I wanted just needed it a little more symmetrical for a larger appeal. I got the carving 3d imaged and let my boy Andy put in work! Ended up with 4.5 and 5.5 inch baits which I wasn't expecting but definitely super happy with. Ended up with pretty much exactly what I wanted, with a little bit more tuning to be done when I get some feedback from end users. Small vid clips bait clear coated before being molded. Baits molded and 1st couple of testing baits. Ended with my 3rd prototype joint and hardware layout for test baits being send out this week. Probably have 8-10 hours into just adjusting weight to get a swim that can be erratic, glide as good as a 5.5 and 4.5" can, and also being stable with no nosing up and down. Swimbait Fishing On A Kayak
JesseDrees and 2 others reacted to buzzed bait for a topic
i'm kinda opposite of others here, but i've fished out of a kayak since like 2010 and used to it by now. i have a hobie pro angler 12 and i sit much more than i stand, just way easier to keep the kayak in the right direction while seated. i usually always have rods behind vertically and never really lob or cast overhand, much more of a roll cast from the side than anything else. i'm often fishing for 10+ hours out of the kayak and am usually no more fatigued on it than my boat or the bank or anywhere else for that matter.3 points -

Just a heads up, an s2 weighs the same as your beast glide (4oz). The reg carp is also 4oz, and a big chief is 5.7oz. If you’re wanting something lighter, I’d recommend looking for a shadlittle (2.5oz), baby carp (3oz), drift (2.8oz), riot crank (3oz), or lil chief (2.4oz) You can use this link to the Pizz website to look at specs for all of his baits: https://www.pizzswimbaits.com/baits/2 points -

Great looking bait, wish I had the patience to even attempt a bait. Love the magnet idea, I have done this on a few baits with tiny rare earth magnets. Keeps the hookrash down and keeps the line from fouling.2 points -

Got back at it today. My mold is done and I casted my first resin casting to set up. I even got the math right for no wasted resin. By knowing the volume of my master, and the density of my resin/microsphere mixture, I can poor the exact amount to fill the mold up. I decided with this glide I wanted to add magnets for the hooks. When I was fishing my K9 the other day, I kept getting the line around the stock front hook and it drove me nuts. Turned out pretty good. Just sprayed some primer on it to fill some of the sanding spots after cutting the vent flashing off. Here she is! Balanced each half, both sink at the same rate and stay level. Came out to 10 inches and 6.6 oz. Sinks a foot in about 1.2-1.5 seconds.2 points -

I personally have to stand and fish! Went from rangers to a kayak. Not into the towing a boat from state to state anymore. H rail on my pa14 lets me lean against it. Spot lock motor guide on the front 100 amp lithium on the back. I never use my pedals anymore. Keep them in the back of the yak in case I need them. Lots of standing space. Small lakes I don’t bring the seat.1 point -

You bought a $400 bait for Striper fishing? Seeeesh, you're crazy lol. TBH I think those dumb stripers will eat any glide bait. I've see 30 and 40 lbers being caught on sneaky Pete's, Swaver 200 and Savage Shine glide magnum. Stick a big one brotha, good luck!1 point

That is nuts, sucks about the car being trashed but hopefully nobody got hurt in the process. You’ve got really clean lines going on there, that’s some work to be proud of. For only your second one ever you’re off to a great start. Keep ‘em coming!1 point -

+1 on a used Hobie PA 14. I’ve had mine since 2015 and it’s perfect for throwing big baits. Got it on a local fishing forum and it’s rigged with sonar, had an inflatable life vest, and all sorts of other goodies. Caught many a fish out of it!1 point -

BEWARE OF BOATERS! They might not see you or are just asses. I have first hand experience unfortunately. Always wear your pfd, it just not worth it to risk it. I have a hobie passport 10.5 and it does just fine in my opinion. I put a moving tarp on top of my little hatchback and then ratchet strap the kayak down on top of it. I always put the strap through the handles of the kayak just in case. My biggest complaint is that there’s no reverse on mine so it’s kind of a pain. the kayaks light and easy to handle and pretty darn stable. I got mine of Craigslist for 450 so I’d frequent looking on there for any good deals. Hope that helps and good luck man, kayaking is good fun!1 point -

I fished out of a Titan 10.5 for a long time before buying my boat, and that thing was a fishing machine. Super stable and tough as nails. It’s heavy, and even though I’m a strong dude there was no way I was going to get that thing on and off of my Jeep…I bought a kayak trailer and if you have the space it makes life a lot easier. Yakima makes great ones but they’re expensive. With the trailer you also can’t really just go park wherever and throw the kayak in the water…gotta find a place with trailer parking, so some lakes or launches won’t work because of that. Everyone is tempted by inflatables. My first watercraft was an 8’ inflatable whitewater raft because it was the only thing I had space for. They come with a lot of sacrifices (stability, durability, etc). If this is your only option to get on the water then yeah it’s 100% better than shorebanging but it’s nowhere near what you’ll get with a rotomolded kayak.1 point -

I just got a NuCanoe Unlimited a few months back and it is the PERFECT boat for me. I’m 6’4” 220 and I can WALK from end to end on that thing and fish to my heart’s content. I’ve also purchased another seat for it and myself, my wife, and my youngest son (6 yr old on a cooler in the middle) paddled around and the boat handled it like it was nothing. Being a tall and extraordinarily clumsy guy, I had all but given up the idea of standing and fishing from a kayak, but I literally spend more time standing than sitting in this thing. I have an extra long paddle and I cruise around like I’m on a big stand-up paddle board. I fish my full-size Leviathan rods from the boat with no issues. The kayak has a ridiculous amount of rails going from end to end and I purchased rail mounted horizontal rod stagers to go on either side of me to free up the deck. One of the cool things about the Unlimited is the ability to adjust just about everything about it. Want to add a trolling motor? No problem, they have a kit for that on the front. Want to add an electric outboard? How about a small GAS outboard? Peddle drive? Not problem. They have all of that covered. Or…if you’re like me and just want to paddle around in paper thin water, this behemoth of a boat paddles surprisingly well! It does take a bit more initial effort to get started going, but once going, it glides effortlessly and tracks extremely well. I can’t say enough good things about it!1 point -
