6-12 N.H. Green Goblin
BassSniffer and 9 others reacted to Harshwaters for a topic
Only post worthy fish of June. One of those bites you don't hear. She slurpped it down next to a large patch of isolated pads. Thought for sure it went over seven. Weighed in at 6-12 at 22.5" long. Special fish because it was caught with a crawlerbait turned on a lathe by an old timer for me.10 points -

Jig Hook Rods: Parabolic or Faster?
BoatSquirrel and one other reacted to Dink whisperer for a topic
The Expride 8 XXH is one of the rods I use for beast hooks and it is not parabolic at all. It has a soft enough tip to sling baits a long way but it shuts off quickly. I like a really stiff rod for these hooks. Many times I'm fishing them in deep water and on long casts. That's when you need a lot of power and a fast rod to move the big chunk of plastic and get that thick gauge hook to penetrate the fishes mouth.2 points -

The Mark 56 is an awesome glide rod. I actually prefer the shorter handle when making precision casts. Rod will easily do 4 oz and is super light.1 point

Megabass Valkyrie World Expedition rod opinions
AkimbaLL704 reacted to Swimbait302 for a topic
Buy it. It’s the best rod I’ve ever owned. It balances perfectly with 300 size reels and can throw just abt any bait in my bag. Durability is incredible too, double footed guides all the way up and a high quantity reel seat. Doesn’t feel like a 4 piece rod either1 point -

Jig Hook Rods: Parabolic or Faster?
Quinnadamss reacted to Mossyback Angler for a topic
For jig hooks, after trial and error, I find , I appreciate a fast tip, with straight Flourocarbon. - want as little stretch as possible for driving them thick, oversized hooks in during the hookset. - I feel the zero / minimal stretch of Flourocarbon, combined with a faster tip aids in feeling what the bait is doing, especially creeping it along. This is a question you will definitely get different opinions on. Gotta find a system that works best for you and your style of fishing.1 point -
I find that the Jackall Pompadour works well for smallies. They just love the clack and clang it makes.1 point

Hinkle Shad/Trout waiting list
CaseRhodes reacted to swimb8bassin512 for a topic
Best bet is to buy second hand. If you do prepay through Hinkle expect at least a year wait. Everyone I know of that has ordered directly has received a bait, “eventually”. Also there will be very little communication, the bait just basically shows up when it shows up. I personally don’t know anyone who has never received a bait or at worst a refund but I’m not a seasoned veteran, only been in the game for a short while. Hope you find what you’re looking for Good luck & Tight lines !1 point -
Hinkle Shad/Trout waiting list
CaseRhodes reacted to BPayne for a topic
I’m not a Hinkle owner myself, but from everything I’ve seen here, it seems like the people that do manage to give Mr. Hinkle money, they wait for YEARS to MAYBE end up with the bait they paid for. If that has changed, those in the know can correct me and I will gladly retract that statement with an apology.1 point -
Megabass Mark 56
xgash reacted to Dink whisperer for a topic
I got it on pre-order back when they first shipped and ended up selling it. It's an absolutely amazing rod but I much prefer 8ft rods now. It's perfect for shorter, accurate casts. In reality it can easily handle 5oz with little effort. It has a deep bend perfect for trebles or even braid on topwater swimbaits. My only complaint on it was the shorter handle. But on a 7' 6" rod it makes since. I don't think you'll be disappointed. TT did a great review on it and even gave it the editors choice award. http://www.tackletour.com/reviewmegabassusp5f7576xmark56.html1 point -
