Rough weather in northern IL today but I've been on this 3-day weather pattern the last couple weeks (fishing the 3rd day of warm day/warmish night trend) and today is the target day. I decided to send this Gantarel KO (it's a super-slow sink, not a floater) and got lucky with my new PB! Went 20.75" and 5.77lbs. Water's less than 2ft visibility, off-and-on drizzle with 10-20mph NNE winds. I was using a moderate retrieve with pauses every three handle turns or so (reel, reel, reel, pause...let it glide off to the side and stall a couple seconds, then reel, reel...) She hit it right when I started reeling after a pause. She didn't TANK it, but it was a good double-tap. Thanks for reading! God is great!!!

Hit up the river bend by my apartment after work to get some fishing in with the last hour or so of daylight. Pulled a couple little <30” followers on a glide, but none would commit so I switched to the Nekosogi DSR and second it cranked to the bottom this fish tanked it! went 34”-35” long on the tape and 16.13 lbs on the scale. Pretty high-average for length but an exceptionally healthy egg laden female which puts it two pounds short of my PB. The longest pike I’ve heard of being measured in here was 52” 34 lbs which was a floater collected on private land. A 52” fish with a girth like this 34” is a creature to fantasize about.

Had a blast in 40° water today! Managed my first citizen fish, she was exactly where she was supposed to be - the only green grass in about 15' of cold open water... I made an adjustment to tie on the citizen 6 after never really working with it at all last year. Well, it's going to stay on the yak in my preferred lineup from now on. It's amazing when a moment of lucid thought while on the water bears a chunky mama! #themoreyouknow

Finally cracked the DD mark with this big girl and was even lucky enough to win the January SU tourney with her. Still extremely stoked about this one, and will be one of the catches that will stick with me forever. 11lb 0 oz

Greetings all, I’ve been super busy with work and just now got around to fishing for the very first time of 2024 today. I was hoping for a bass, but this lake has a pretty solid population of bowfin in it as well, so there is always the chance of attracting one of these nasty bass turds . Anyways…first fish of the year is a 5lb5oz bowfin on a WCZ TK in mode B with a transfer tail and a 1g board weight. Pretty cool eat. Cheers.

Thanks! Not gonna lie, I've underrated it myself; I've had it for a couple seasons and only thrown it a handful of times. That's gonna change this season for sure.

For me, on Fork the gill bite happens later. For the early spring, the glide just gets bit better. Once the initial spawn is slowing, that's when my gill baits play more

Honestly any day on the water is productive - I’m always trying to learn. It took me a few trips this year to get some what of a feel for where the fish are NOW with the current conditions. My late winter / early spring game isn’t my strong suit so I’ve made a real effort to try and improve that while keeping it fun.

Hyped for this. Let’s see who gets blessed with the biggin. Wake baits are my forte but never threw a 3:16 baby. Ready to throw some rash on one of these bad boys.
