  1. Fingerless alpaca or merino wool gloves should be in everyone's pockets. Dog walker cross over item. I once found a pair at a fair with fleece interior. Wish I had bought more of them since I luv vests with fleece pockets. Also wool continues to warm even if wet.
  2. Here ya go. Pretty bait slimmer profile than my wake jr. trout.
  3. Never had an issue here have always done f&f but I would be wary of a seller who doesn't post much.
  4. I have two older models that I have never thrown. PM me and I can send pics.
  5. Mike was about to shut it down this year, even gave final notice. Members chipped in for site costs making him feel appreciated. Some peeps have disappeared thinking site has shut down but it is up for at least another year.
  6. I have met Pat and he had a long list of potential buyers who want just one. I think he pissed off his loyal faithful when he started to favor new users. He also came to an annual lunker torney held by one of the og nef members years ago but would only allow 1 per person and took some home enforcing this. NEF is a small site with a cult following of loyal members. I recently picked one up for a reasonable price there. I suspect it was from a member who got it at that torney.
  7. Midwest company scheels has great markdowns and is getting my attention.
  8. Tough call, need to choose reel first to be sure it mates well with rod or do the opposite. Finding a perfect match is a great feeling.
  9. Bill Siemental in his classic swimbait book says never evah evah nevah ever tie direct. We all have tied direct sometimes. I only do it when I know bait will only catch fish doing it that way. If that line moves on the lie tie it can be like dragging it against a sharp rock.
  10. Get primary care doc to order an mri not just an xray or ct scan. I was called a faker by an orthopedic surgeon cuz my xray was negative and I literally had to beg him for help. This was early on when mris were hard to get. After my mri, he called apologetically saying I needed surgery immediately for a herniated disc.
  11. L5 S1 discectomy here. Go to a good doctor and follow recommendations. Stay awake from internet diagnoses. I have no issues throwing swimbaits in part because I have high quality seats in my boats. In my bass boat I stand but use a pedestal seat that has a u in it for leaning. Avoid standing without support would be my suggestion. PS. I have a good buddy who has an og rear pedestal that runs up my ass, and so I don't night fish with him anymore. Can't risk the sudden stops and gos I can't anticipate. Don't get it he upgraded his other seats. Can't even sit on it - it is like sitting on metal since seat is toast. I understand not everybody would complain about it but last thing I need is to go back into surgery for herniating a disc again.
  12. You know when peeps have to buy a second one called the Butch Brown model to get bit, something is up. I have never had a bite on mine. I have several. They swim like Cadillacs tho. I suspect issue is lack of flash and roll on em.
  13. Great report and fish. Congrats.
  14. The old school Caly sb videos and books all conclude big fish will pack together to coral stocked trout. So I think it depends upon the bait.
  15. Yeah he is all about figuring out what the fish are eating and of course there are times they are keyed into bottom creatures. But true swimbait fisherman don't even consider a slump. Best line ever is from a MA living legend named Dave Lynch who says the key to swimbait fishing is "no memory." PS. Dave has won the pin award for largest bass caught in the state. Weighed and released too. Almost a MA 10. Great dude, chatted him up recently in line for opening at a swimbait show.
  16. You should read murphy's book in pursuit of giant bass.
  17. For sure, but you gotta be a little careful about buying the slower baits. Most musky baits are built for super fast triggering speeds which don't tend to trigger giant lm. But yes, baits like the whopper plopper started as musky baits. PS. I have had a situation once in my fishing life when bass only wanted a super fast retrieve. It was on Champlain and so much fun.
  18. The depps 250* is the most overrated glide of all time imo. Proven glides out here have been the megabass Islide 185 fished like a jerkbait (toying with em to suspend is tricky) and the ds customs on a slow retrieve. Both of these baits can be thrown on light swimbait gear not needing a special rig like the 250. *I have two depps glides and a modified slide swimmer. They swim like Cadillacs but don't even get follows when they fish are hitting everything else.
  19. Something with a remote would be fun with that boat imo.
  20. I know merthiolate anyone? Haha.
  21. Hopefully the grateful recipient will post a followup with their setup. Good vibes here.
  22. Folks it's not pink it's bubblegum. Haha.
