  1. My parents pimped me out to pay for THEIR fishing stuff. Good luck with the duck.
  2. My minis, 7s and 9s all have 2/0s on them, never a problem.
  3. What kind of baits are you looking for?
  4. NATS!!!! I may be in the minority.
  5. Mini slammer is more f a numbers, rat-like bait. Bigger sizes equate to bigger fish, and the wiggle is a little more fish-like. Punkers are walkers, great for more open water.
  6. Just remember, you can always make stuff sink faster. It's more difficult the other way around. I remember that advice...
  7. To an extent, I don't care how Butch does it in Cali. I'm not fishing over many DDs in North Carolina, and I like as few points of failure (knots, crimps, more mono/flouro) between myself and the fish as possible. He's not doing that with 68s to the best of my knowledge either; they work fine the way they are. This fits in the "If it ain't broke, don't break it" category for me; your results may vary.
  8. So I'm guessing you don't change the hooks out on your triple trouts, slammers, deps... etc? Not even after they bend out right? That's totally different, comparing trebles, some of which are weaker, with a perfectly acceptable, and sharpen able jig hook
  9. Not sure you understand the question... Not sure you understand jokes Probably due to low ACT scores...
  10. Something's shady...maybe a reaction over the summer of shady paint with the resin? Even crap paint shouldn't look that bad. I have hit everything from rip rap to stop signs with baby wakes and never had anything remotely close to that.
  11. ACT scores really have no bearing on how smart you are, but they will get you a college scholarship. More importantly, ACT has no bearing on how you deal with business, which in this case there seem to be some low scores all around.
  12. So in sum: 1. Don't use PayPal Gift unless it's really a gift to someone you know. You will have very little recourse if it goes sideways. 2. Use some form of shipping with a tracking number. Figure it into the bait price. Request one if you are the buyer. 3. If you are new and/or young, do both of the above, regardless of ACT score. Ps - mine was a 32.
  13. Just moved to a Charlotte, NC. I have a week before I start work, and I'd like to get out a couple times, likely from the bank or renting so kayak. Anyone have any advice or directions on where to go?
  14. I'd start with a 9" slammer and 8" Hudd, learn those, catch fish on those, and then see if you really want to get into the bigger, more expensive, more complicated baits. The gear to throw them comfortably for any length of time is just as important as the baits. The "training wheel" version of this is a Hudd 68 and a Mini Slammer. More fish, but you're wading through some dinks.
  15. not too short? I've never felt it was too short. I feel 7'6" is good for "multipurpose" rods whereas I like shorter for walking baits and longer for single hooks and glides.
  16. I have the 7'6" inch heavy and have fished it for two years. Face punch nailed it wit the 1/3 to 1/2 rating happiness. It'll throw stuff in the 4-5 ounce range, but it starts to get less...comfortable. It's great for working glides tip down however, and really handles baits at the low end great.
  17. Never underestimate the power of a black mini. Ever.
  18. Put a very small cone-shaped glass or plastic bead that you can get at a craft store on the line in front of the hudd and it will take care of those line-tie weed issues. You can get them in clear and they're barely noticeable. A small bullet weight accomplishes same, but is a little ghetto.
  19. He quoted me 4 weeks...about 9 weeks ago. But I certainly don't have have a problem waiting for quality. It's 100% worth it.
