I would say another 300 sized reel give you plenty of bait size/weight options.

Id say keep it under 2-3 oz and you should be just fine. Main concern is line capacity. I personally feel anything over 17lb Fluoro 150-200 sized reels is a bit much..

After working on a fair share of reels, both are great and will do just fine for many anglers. If heavily used in salt, I would suggest the tranx 200 due to its bearing replacement with delrin material bushings to help with longevity in those type of applications. Otherwise, any reel you choose would do just fine for smaller swimbaits and freshwater. Both Tranx and Tatula come with a single cross carbon drag washer that I believe is sufficient for most peoples needs. Max drag on both reels is well over what you should be fishing on 15-20lb test. You could always run the cross carbon completely dry for those who like the no give drag setting.

Have you had that many incidences with the san diego Jam knot? I use that knot for everything... just curious So far so good. Been using it constantly for over 4-5 years now. quickest knot to tie for me. Any knot i have to spend more than 15-20 seconds on, ill reconsider
