  1. windy app Someone posted their log info on a socal site, as a thank you for posting information. It is pretty cool app. I hate the wind.
  2. I would like to try the eden 8 in trout this winter.
  3. Some good ones already mentioned. Russell Myers - painted a few for me. check him out on FB Won a bait from Finbait_customs at the toy drive. wow, the paint is awesome. He does repaints too. Going to have to send him some. Already mentioned @WT_LureWorks Since he just painted a bait for me ill show it off. I had this hoogtrout for two years. I like throwing it, but I have several trouts I rotate now. I seen what William was doing and wanted something different. They stock these lighting trouts here in socal so why not! Much respect for his customer service.
  4. Was asked what/where the event was.
  5. Anyone going? Anything new to look out for, anything to line up early for? I don't think I have seen many post by bait makes on what they are bringing. I think I am grabbing a bottom Dweller 9" trout if I can. I have been to the last 2. I love helping out kids in need. The opportunity to talk and meet with new people, and listening to the speakers made the last 2 worth it cya there Ed
  6. The hudd toad is bogo as well. I thought 9 bucks was steep. Then I threw it when the frogs stared getting blasted on the banks. Held up well. Fun times. Used a Owner twistlock flippen hook 5/0. In for a few. Thank you for the heads up. Ed
  7. Went yesterday evening. Stopped a few times and ended up at the inlet. Threw a few different shad glides, triple trout, and softies in the current. No love. I believe it had to be the first time ever I been there with no wind. It took about 30 minutes to walk from the inlet to the parking lot.
  8. Will break out the trout baits and shore pound soon enough. I know the water is cold in January, like stack of nickels cold...
  9. Spinning reels all my life. Rod in dominate right hand, reel with left. Got my first baitcaster 2020 during covid, gift from an inlaw, right hand reel. Here is my dilemma, im right handed and not ambidextrous. I am in for 5 bait casters, 3 that are set up for swimbaits, all righties. I miss some hooksets. I contribute missing hooksets to being a new and not very patient. I feel awkward, maybe not as awkward as that kid in your old PE class who couldnt figure out which foot to step and throw with. Maybe just not feeling as natural is all. I want to try a left hand set up, just need to fork up the dough to try it. Then maybe I wont like reeling with my left.... I think I just need more experience, repetitions and time on the water.
  10. Thank you gentlemen. Appreciative it. https://barlowstackle.com/magnum-shakee-blades-plated-finishes-p3856/ https://barlowstackle.com/queen-tackle-switch-blades/ Ordered a couple of those and will see if I can attach them to a beast hook 8/0-10/0. I have a couple zman big blades too, think I overlooked it because I already had a weighted beast hook in the SB, was thinking of attaching something to it. But ill give it a go. Ed
  11. The chatter bait hook on the bottom come in packs of two, 4/0 hooks. I bought them, put a zoom fluke on it and threw it around the CA aqueduct. I changed out one of my 6' shad soft SB's. This thing has been melted, superglued, and mended, time for a new one. I grabbed the bottom hook and put it on the SB, threw it in my bag and forgot about it. Saturday night, I had a few minutes before I left, packing up at the lake. I put the black halfwit away and noticed the old SB with the chatterbait hook. So what the heck, threw it on my rod and chucked it. An of course I get bit. I know I lack patience, swung to early. But wow something hit it hard. So I go home look at it and think how can I rig a chatter bait blade that is big enough and strong enough to throw on a bigger soft bait. I took an old chatter bait apart and tried to make a rig. The bait on top. Took it out Sunday morning. It swims straight. But no chatter. Figured its to small or i did something wrong. Also figured the blade felt weak, and not sure I trust it. Im betting some of the guys that fish bigger predator fish have something already made. Who has some insight for me? Ed
  12. Which PG? I have an older version without swivel hook hangers. That front hook stays pinned in the joint. I will start to tinker with it, different rings and hooks, see if I can get it to work without catching the joint. I just picked up some BKK hooks for another bait. I may try them. I also have a new PG with the swivel hook hangers. It has never caught the joint or lip. I believe they may be stock hooks. Looking at it, without measurement, it looks like the swivel hook hanger is positioned closer to the front of the bait, while the older model hook hanker is closer to the joint. Maybe that's why. ED
  13. Listening now. I have a few baits.
  14. where at in CA are you? There are many guys on social media that will update trout stocks for socal. I fish a private lake that stocks every wed night/thursday during trout season. They lake isnt very deep(30'), so with water temps rising they will stop here soon. If I am out with my dad or friends catching stockers, I have been bringing some trout swimbaits. Ill always dedicate some time to it. Ive got a couple but nothing special. Its always that guy who throws a worm and hits a 8lber...
  15. I don't have any awesome catch pics..Yet. but rescue missions, oh yes. Fist First of many in Lake pyramid Going home for my daughter inflatable. 86 doomrider rescued. I can swim well, but its a "no touch lake." Line caught my hook holder. Ripped my rod out my hand, Pg went flying into the tullies.. Thought I lost it. Anyone use another bait to toss at a bait you lost in tullies? i have a bait that has brought back several after getting them hung up in tullies. Good times. Ill come back and post a good fish memory pic one day.
  16. I fished my leviathan omega H since I got it late last spring. Never had a issue with the hook hanger. Just got new line, 20lb izor. After several cast I noticed my line was wrapped under the hook hanger on the side of the rod. so I grab it, flip the line over. Was the new line the culprit? I went to bomb a PG, YEET! Then snap! My rod flies out of my hand, my pg goes up like a nice infield fly. I have time to look at my rod sinking about 5 feet from shore, look back and see my pg falling in the middle of some tullies. Its was just past 7pm, I have to pick my daughter up from swim practice at the pool down the road in about a half hour. No time to play around. So, I wasn't going to loose both, off my clothes went, left shoes on for protection, and jumped in. Swam down for my rod, found it and climbed out. Line was wrapped around the hook keeper. Walked down the shore to the tullies, swam out, spotted my Pg and went in after it. Grabbed it and doggy paddled back.... Didn't get any bites during my swim. Since I was able to retrieve my gear pretty quickly I checked it out, pulled some line out, retied a different bait on. Casted a few times just watching the line. I can see how the line can catch the hook keeper. Now im gun shy, afraid to pull the trigger, not letting the big dog eat, not grippin and rippin, YEET... Whats up, cut off the hook keeper, mash it down, tape over it, use the last guide as a hook keeper(eww) Ed
  17. PM. I want the craw if available.
  18. Heading to camp for a few days with fam and friends. I dont have a lot of experience surf fishing Any help is appreciated Some gear i will bring: surf rod 1-5oz, bait n wait? Carolina rig with ? spinner rod 5/8oz to throw LC jerkbaits swimbait set ups, soft and hard bait(dobyns 867) I dont think i want to bring any bait to expensive, but I have a few like s waver 200 bone, pencil popper, yozuri poppers. Bgc striper series shad, wcz cit 7, bottomdwellers shad, I probably have other stuff I can throw. any ideas? Anyone throw swimbaits in the surf? I followed a surf fishing page on FB but havnt seen people using swimbaits. Ill be hitting Tackle Express in scv in the am to get a new license and grab new hooks/rings for the lucky crafts.
  19. Pretty cool event. I didn't make it in time to get a Pizz Gill, they went pretty quick. I did end up grabbing 2 pizz baits, juvie trout, and Shadlittle. I did get to speak to Paul about fishing and some catches and baits. I got back in line 2x. I saw others as well. If you were so inclined, you could of went 3x,4x...5x? I took a long look at the fin baits. They looked good. I'm still so green that I wasn't sure if I wanted to get into another set up to throw those. I do know the striper guys are loving them. Got to chat with some guys you see online, there are some good people in this community. I did stick around to listen to the panel of speakers. They had some good stories. I will have to say this, fishing guys don't want to give up any secrets. I heard "you have to get out on the water and grind," "nothing beats time on the water'' about 100 times. Which is true, the mother of all learning is repetitions. By the end of it, the amount of toys stacked was awesome to see. You can see the amounts on the cast n crank IG page. Good cause. Good stuff.
