Today seemed like the perfect day to go fish. Warm front, overcast, drizzly conditions. I found the river high and muddy so I wanted something that would put out a steady thump that the fish could track. Also needed a weedless bait because I was sinking the bait down into the rocks to escape the current.

About an hour in I felt the signature thump I was hoping for. I have a pretty bad track record with beast hooks so I was extra careful to reel tight before swinging.

I didn’t give these fish enough credit, the bait was completely engulfed.
