Jake Muñoz
Can somebody explain to me how 200 size reels handle 3-4oz swim baits? Tranx are out most places and I’d rather buy a new 200 for smaller stuff, as I’ve seen people using them for 1-4oz stuff. I know I should upgrade to a bigger handle but…. Do they handle 3-4oz alright? Do they wear faster? Are there important things I should know before buying? Thanks!
chevro1et
Something like a Daiwa Zillion HD will handle those baits no problem. Built for abuse.

That's definitely a higher caliber of 200 size reel, Jim. basskickinrednick and DrewManFishing 1

It is but will most likely last a life time with proper care. DrewManFishing and chevro1et

If you are fishing a glide you are going to won’t to be at least 30ipt in my opinion. Otherwise you will always feel like you are trying to catch up to the bait. I had a tranx 200 that was great for crankdowns (slower ipt) but was really difficult to fish glides because of this.
Efrain
200s are perfect t for that. No heavier tho and honestly I stop at 3 oz but know plenty of guys who's go up to 4. All my reels are 200 btw.
Mkel83
I throw a tiny klash and a 3.5oz glide on an old Curado D 201 and it’s been great. Those things are built like tanks.

Putting in my vote for the conquest 200dc if it’s in the budget. Most amazing reel I’ve ever owned Jim137a
urbanhick
I use a coastal 200 paired with a lighter version of the M1 Swimbait rod. I do up to 3 oz with it mostly smaller glide baits.
Dink whisperer
I switched from a Tranx 200 to a Scorpion 150 DC for my 1-4oz stuff. I'm running braid to a leader and never saw the need for more honestly. It handles them just fine and I don't see it having any failures due to throwing those weights either. NEbucketmouth19
I use a tatula 200 HD on my 795 for up to 4oz and it does fine
