Arowana Build

Well, I've been reading and looking on here more lately, and I'm going to post a build. I've done minimal swimbait work, so this'll be interesting...

The plan at this point it to make a set of arowanas (auto-correct hates that word). I'd like to make a slow sinking swimbait and a low floating wake bait. If I can get the bait right, I'll use this as my first attempt at resin casting too.

So to get started, here's my profile.IMG_20220510_120035.thumb.jpg.352eaf792bbdf378aa5690ea074b1fa2.jpg

Thanks!

I got the profile traced out. So far I've got it on some PVC and a piece of hardish wood (might be wild cherry?). Hopefully I'll get them cut out tomorrow and start carving.

Got the wakebait carved to shape and one popper carved and sanded. Now to sand and add detail...

Some things I noticed working with the PVC for the wake bait... it is really smooth to carved as there is no grain to work with. It sands much different than wood, and the granules seem to clog up the paper more quickly. So far so good.

So I got the lip dry-fit. It looks too big to me, but maybe not. I kind of think the bigger lip might help it come through weeds more cleanly. I started carving in detail. It's coming together!
