I’ve got a baby boy due in a few weeks so I’ll be dismantling my rod building stuff to make room for the added head count in the house. All my personal stuff has pretty solid use of neon and I couldn’t decide what to use for my last rod so I figured I may as well use all of them.

Used a Phenix Hybrid 888mh blank and it should be good for baits up to 3 or 4 oz. the main purpose will be for launching my UFO wake around. Fuji titanium guides and G2 carbon grips. Pretty much threw the kitchen sink at it.

Since I broke my low down customs medium heavy a couple of weeks ago I had to replace it so I decided to try out a megabass destroyer Mark 48 rated for one and a half to 5 oz we will see how this thing compares

Here’s my two sticks! Northfork Composites 806 and 807. Calcutta 401 on the 807 and Shimano Exsence DC on the 806. Both reels have DRT 100mm Varial Handles.

The rods were built by me. Both have ALPS reel seats and spiral wrapped Fuji K-series guides.

Nice man I’ve been looking at trying one of their production swim air rods. Any experience with them? Assuming it’s the same blank how is the rod action for treble baits? Pretty parabolic?

@Bass_blaster How is the action on that hybrid blank. I have been wanting an 887 or 888 for an under 4oz rod, but when I called phenix they said it was extremely fast.

I know they make a 928 9'2 moderate/fast, but they said they can't ship it.

I’ve got the 888mh pictured above and also building an 838mh. Of those two, the 838 has a little less tip flex and I would say is faster. The 888mh is relatively fast but the tip is really nice so I’ve enjoyed it for throwing my UFO wake and SS around. Launches them pretty good.

I wanted something different with the 838mh so I actually trimmed from the butt and it’s now 7’-6”. I’ll be done in about a week or so.

Are you still building? I am on the fence of having something built vs attempting to do this myself. While I am confident that I can build a rod, the learning curve would be huge and I am sure I would spend 3 times a much by the time I was happy.

Couple new sticks in the line up. My ideas and layout and Justin finalized the builds and they came out great. Got the 807 due in this week and already own the 868.

Nameless Customs 805 1-4oz urban camo rod with a daiwa z2020 black edition (this will be my smaller crankdown/treble bait rod)

Nameless Customs 786 1-5oz blue camo with a daiwa ryoga 1520 CC (all around one & done stick, mainly soft baits right now)
