I’ve got a baby boy due in a few weeks so I’ll be dismantling my rod building stuff to make room for the added head count in the house. All my personal stuff has pretty solid use of neon and I couldn’t decide what to use for my last rod so I figured I may as well use all of them.

Used a Phenix Hybrid 888mh blank and it should be good for baits up to 3 or 4 oz. the main purpose will be for launching my UFO wake around. Fuji titanium guides and G2 carbon grips. Pretty much threw the kitchen sink at it.

Amazing work!  You getting rid of the rod building stuff, or just putting it away for a bit?

Just putting it away for a bit while I adjust to the new life. I’ll still be building but instead of 10+ per year it’ll just be a few probably. It’s an addiction, can’t stop.

I turned that addiction into a small business.  We build a bit of everything, including swimbait rods.

Nothing special. Moved on from my starter Daiwa DXSB to this. Throw almost everything on this from battleshads to 8” hudds to 250s. Probably not ideal but its my only swimbait setup lol.

F5 MVT H 3-8oz, Daiwa Lexa with a Gomexus 120mm handle.

Looking forward to it!

Love the bantam on there. One of my favorite reels. Do you only use braid on it or have you tried running 20lb? Trying to see if it would work for my newest setup just worried about the 20lb capacity

I actually used 20# Big Game all summer and didn't have any issues. I tried 50# braid on it earlier in the year and had a few breakoffs (lots of pike here) so I went back to big game and I'll probably stay with it.  Braid is on it now because I didn't want to throw the braid out from another reel so I just spooled it onto the reel for now.

Finally got around to making the rod for my Deps Z2020. Used a Phenix hybrid 838mh and cut it down to 7-6. Fuji titanium torzite guides, carbon grips, red camo eva. Pretty tame build compared to the usual obnoxious sh*t I make.
