From the deps website about the "grooves" which they call the "water through duct"

"Ducts provided between the core body and soft shell captures the water flow inside the body during retrieval, discharge at the joint portion. Soft shell which gave a slight deflection, creating a unique life feeling."

I messed with a new 250 today when you move the skin up it barely glides if at all I would not suggest doing this. If any one can suggest a glue to use to keep skin in place please let me know where the eye is for your hooks in the skin rip a little and likes to move around on me. It really not a glue more of a rubbery substance like the stuff that hold credit cars to the paper in the mail.
