colinwehrle
I have a Shimano Cardriff 400a, I will be throwing 1-3 ounce swimbaits. Last year I used Berkeley big game 40 pound mono. Anything better I could be putting on?

M4TT
Damn 40# mono for 1-3oz? Overkill I use 20# Big Game for 3-5oz baits but am gonna switch up to 25# Maxima Ultragreen. BigSlant
YELOSUB
40# line for those size baits is way too heavy...I'm using 30# mono for my Mother and that thing weighs in @ 12 ounces...You'd be better off dropping down to a smaller reel, like a 300 series, for those sized baits and using nothing heavier than 20#... When I'm throwing the Deps 175 for example, I drop down to 16# flourocarbon... Or even the Swavers, same thing... bigpoppabass
I am a huge fan of yozuri hybrid in 20lb test. Good luck breaking it won't happen if spooled correctly. Got into it because heat does not weaken it.
swole_t
I use 20 pound big game for that weight
kahai808
started using my Tatula HD spooled with 20 Pline Original and it works awesome. especially for my smaller baits but it can throw 250 no problem. for the 1-3oz baits you could spool it up with 15 if you wanted to. skins84
15-20# Big Game
DonnyDfish
1-2 ounce baits curado 200 or calcutta 200 pinned with 12 to 15 lb seaguar abrazx. 2-3 ounce baits curado 300 or calcutta 300 whichever your hands prefer pinned with 15 to 20 lb seaguar abrazx floro. 40 lb big game is something you would use for 20lb plus yellowtail
