When to use "phantom" Hudds?

I understand that these baits are for clear water, however, I am still not sure how these could be more effective than say, a regular rainbow trout huddleston. I am looking at picking up some more hudds, is a phantom bait a useful addition to the arsenal for specific conditions, or just cool looking?

Thanks SU

I just bought 2 in rof 5 and they're both well painted on one side but then have almost no spots on the other side. One of them feels like the harness is already glued to the inside of the body the other is not. They still look super good/realistic in the water.

What is it about phantom colors that makes them effective in clear water and sunny days? How are they more realistic than a solid color? Trout aren't clear... just trying to make sense of it

this was kinda my thought as well, but if people find them more effective, hard to argue with that.

Vncnt285 I'm not sure, the fins on a real trout are somewhat translucent and so are the fins on my phantoms so that's one possibility.

My theory is that with more translucency there is less to look fake..bass will have less time to scope and rely more on the lateral line senses..at least that's what I tell myself
