ferrulewax
I understand that these baits are for clear water, however, I am still not sure how these could be more effective than say, a regular rainbow trout huddleston. I am looking at picking up some more hudds, is a phantom bait a useful addition to the arsenal for specific conditions, or just cool looking? Thanks SU
Ceaser
I use them in clear water. I think they are nore natural but im also no hudd expert either gcopple
hydrocephalic
Clear water, especially on sunny days, is when I usually throw the phantoms. ISO_the1 and gcopple
Garrett
I just bought 2 in rof 5 and they're both well painted on one side but then have almost no spots on the other side. One of them feels like the harness is already glued to the inside of the body the other is not. They still look super good/realistic in the water. vncnt
What is it about phantom colors that makes them effective in clear water and sunny days? How are they more realistic than a solid color? Trout aren't clear... just trying to make sense of it Garrett and swole_t
Garrett
Vncnt285 I'm not sure, the fins on a real trout are somewhat translucent and so are the fins on my phantoms so that's one possibility.
Volfan
If they don't bounce when they hit water, throw 'em!!

My theory is that with more translucency there is less to look fake..bass will have less time to scope and rely more on the lateral line senses..at least that's what I tell myself SD032, Garrett and Bloodkitty

bigpoppabass
The idea of see through baits is they can take on the color of the water just as most hatchery trout do that holdover. danthefisherman and ISO_the1
ferrulewax
So consensus...you guys like em better, worse, or should I have both?
Stingray23
I think everyone should have both. Its better to be prepared for anything then to wish you had it.
HuddMan101
I just buy them because the regular colors are always sold out
bigpoppabass
Nothing like an original which gets small skin tears leaving a fleshy whitish spot behind. You can't get that with a phantom.
