Small fish

I love the look of this bait both in the hand and in the water. So do the fish... but the wrong size keeps hitting it. Last fall and so far this spring I've had sub 1lb fish absolutely annihilate this thing, one yesterday came clean out of the water on the strike.

What Baits do you guys use that seem to catch quantity but not quality?

Dan, one of the basics on SU is that big baits = big fish and little baits = little fish.  What you have there is a little bait.  Therefore don't be surprised that you are catching little fish on it.  Try something that weighs about 10 times as much as that little crank bait.  If not, you are on the wrong website.

I consistently get hit on slammers by little fish too. My question was phrased wrong. What "big fish" Baits do you use that consistantly get nailed by little guys, and why do you think they're so aggressive.

Try changing your target area. You may be in the wrong area that is only holding small fish.

I'd agree with this. Try some areas adjacent to deeper water

Might try fishing something that is the size of the small bass your catching. The bigger grade fish could be feasting the smaller bass. Seems like when there isn't a big forage type food supply such as trout, hitch, or gizzard shad they begin to Target each other.
