SethMuffinson
Anyone mess with lead tape to get a floating bait to go sub surface? Or weigted trebels? The pond i usualy fish has hawks that will hit anything sitting on the surface and im nervous about throwing a floating 3:16 shad around
deaknh
Oh yea, you can make a floater sink but can't make a sinker float. Play around with hooks, rings, tape etc to get it how you want it. El_Weruso and SethMuffinson
bigpoppabass
Lead tape will not work near any hooks. I have tried and tried to get it to stick with my islides (glue etc) with little success. Edges always come off....pouring lead is a better option. SMS203
Wrap it right around the trebles SethMuffinson
Nolan Aker
I've heard people wrap the hooks will soldering wire. never tried but it seems cheaper than strips and easy to use SethMuffinson
bassbass
Storm make lead dots and strips. You can wrap the strips around the shank of the hook and it works well. swimbape, basskickinrednick, Primus and 1 other

chevro1et
If you're not in a big hurry, you can order these lead tapes from China. Mine came in about 3 weeks or so https://www.ebay.ca/itm/12pcs-Lead-Tapes-to-Add-Swing-Weight-for-Golf-Club-Tennis-Racket-Iron-Putter/252518395249?ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT&_trksid=p2057872.m2749.l2649
Klash9
i have used both lead strips/golf tape and tungsten weights to tune baits. i prefer lead tape because you can adjust the placement to get the proper action and sink rate and it is close and static in regards to the sections of the bait. anything lower than the body of the bait like on the hooks will change the action, as there will be a pendulum like motion, thats why on the ymtk tune for the tiny klash, they use the weight on the back split ring to exaggerate the roll and snap of the back end of the bait. El_Weruso
Lead Strips stay on well, make sure the surface is dry and press it on hard and round out the edges. I've have lead strip tapes stay on for months. SethMuffinson
