If you're using your bare hands to control the fish during those smoking runs, you're one hardcore dude. I've caught a few small northerns on tipups and they don't cause much concern, but I once had the chance to fish handlines on a reef and when sharks or jacks grabbed the bait, they had the potential to toast your hands right quick.
