Rod hook rash

I use a lure wrap to keep em pinned to the blank when in transport to and from wherever I’m fishing.  There’s a bunch of different options out there but I haven’t come across too many that are large enough for swimbaits.  The ones I use are called Bait Glove, xl size

I have had issue with the red dye in the nylon leaching onto soft baits if I wrap em up at the end of the day and leave the bait in the wrap for a couple days.

We need @Fallof74 to whip up a batch of Gator skin, wool lined lure wraps! :)

I cut off the bait when the rod is not in use.   It's actually a good thing since it makes me retie and inspect the line before the next session.

That's a very good point. Especially with flouro i never trust the kink that gets put in the line from the top guide when having a bait tied on

Good topic. I haven't figured it out. I tried placing front hook on top of worm gear on reel. It works but eventually it will catch some line and splice your braid (that gets into your head when it happens even if you get hook out of the braid)...so my current strategy is to line guide one hook or use hook holder on rod. Then I use a hook bonnet or cover for the other treble. I keep the hook covers in my pocket etc.

With double treble baits, the above suggestions are all good.

Not sure if you rod has a hook keeper, but you might consider adding one if it doesn’t. Hooking your bait on a guide or the reel itself is asking for rash.

Here are a two hook keepers I have used with success.
