I have a few of these 5” H20 xpress glide baits from academy that have been discontinued. The stock tail deteriorated/ melted in the heat but swam great and caught a lot of fish before doing so. was curious if you craftsmans had any suggestions or ideas for soft or hard tail to get these fishing again? thanks! Wykyd B8 Posted March 16, 2020 Report Share Posted March 16, 2020 Well if you want a hard tail get polycarbonate/lexan in the thickness of that tail slot and sand one down. Stuff is pretty forgiving! If you want soft the easiest way is buy an extra thick silicone dinner mat on amazon and cut out your tail. You may have to double up the material its only like 1-1.5mm thick. you need 100% caulk to glue them together. That's about the best I can recommend for easy fixes with minimal tools. chefchris Posted March 16, 2020 Report Share Posted March 16, 2020 TW sells replacement tails for the swaver and others, a more rigid tails is better for glides, id use some 2 part epoxy and just fill in the gap with it and install the tail. azfisher Posted March 16, 2020 Report Share Posted March 16, 2020 The dividers from your Plano and Flambeau boxes will work in a pinch, most even have a fat side that could be trimmed to fit in the retention slot and you can shape the tail any way you want.
