Don’t have a lot of time with a fury but the taper felt different to me. Like the fury was more stiff right to the tip guide whereas the champs feel like they taper quicker and have some tip. No rod should be a pool cue, even for the biggest baits Yes the champion is a better blank with better guides. I’ve never tried the champion but I’ve used the fury in my normal bass gear

The 807 is your soft bait specialist rod. If anything I think you could save a bit on your reel. There’s a lot of nice reels out there under $200, especially if you buy second hand do you have any experience with the 807? dont mean to hijack the thread you can dm me if that seems more polite than taking over this post

I cant decide wheter to go fury 795 for small small baits then go champion 807 after or if fury 806 could do most light stuff then go with more of a champion 867. It is a little give and take between picking one over the other. My choice for the 806 over the 795 is after weighing the pros and cons for my personal needs. Before I got the 795 fury, my 806 fury was my smallest swimbait rod. I was throwing things as light as the little johnny rat (1.2 oz). That was probably the lightest bait I was throwing on it and it threw the little johnny fine but I did have to fine tune my tranx 301 to compensate for the light weight. So it's a tad too much rod for casting something that's not as aerodynamic as a little Johnny rat. It does however throw the savage gear pulse rail gill (jig hook version) which is 1 oz a lot farther than the little Johnny rat because it's more aerodynamic. Overall, even though 1 oz baits may feel better casting on the 795, I'd still pick the 806 for better feel on the hookset. And u can go up to 4 oz with the 806 and not worry about a good hookset. With the 795, it throws 4 oz fine imo but with a bait that big on it u really gotta swing to drive the hooks. Again, this is where I fall to one side over the other, the hookset. If u go with an 806, imo, u can go 867 as the next size up rod and not need an 807 because the 806 and 867 can bridge the gap. And an 867 is very versatile. It throws 3 oz comfortably all the way up to a deps 250. I learned by accident that the 867 can be an excellent rod for a 6" bgc crankdown gil But it is true what others have said, fury 795 can be a great rod for small treble hook baits. But if I was on a limited budget and had to choose, I'd go 806 fury over 795 fury Edited November 13, 2020 by SumoNinja Trevor L

Then having to upgrade and not go in between rods. Just go from the do it all medium baits to the big big rod. SumoNinja
Kevinzap
I have both and the 806 is where its at. The 795 is only good for small glides like the Arashi and negotiator but the 806 has so much more range on top of those two. Yeah throwing more baits is probably the most important part right now getting into it not having 4 rods for separate weights

Rld504
I have an 806 and enjoy it so far. I've thrown 6" magdraft freestyles, beast coast creeps, gantarels, s waver 168 and 200 and it handles them all pretty well. I've thrown a 5oz bait on it and would say that pushed it pretty hard lol. I also have an irod bailey's swim and I use it for 8" hudds , other big jig hook baits and larger glidebaits. Another great option for the price and irod has the best customer service I've ever experienced. Hope this helps !
