  1. So I have a 796, 806, and a 908 coming. I’m thinking about trading in the 806 (current deps 250 rod) for the 867, does anyone know if dobyns is gonna charge me out the ass to change to a rod in the same series? ( the 867 is $30 more than 806) I like the 806 for my 250 but the 867 is supposed to be the jam, I like throwing alot of close casts near cover with the 250, is the 867 still good for the short precise casts? and would a 796, 867, and a 908 be a good line up to cover all my treble baits 3oz and up?
  2. So I’m buying a 908 to throw a Deadtwitch, 10” hudds, and big glides like the mother. I’ve been reading forums for like a week trying to decide if I could get away with one of my lexa or Tatula 300s spooled with 25lb mono would that work for this setup? Or should I try to get a lexa 400 and run 30lb?
  3. Zion Jerge

Been on a nice wake bait bite this week. 4.7 and 4.3 Spots and a 5.8 largie at my local lake
  4. I am looking into getting into the swimbait game and I have been doing a ton of research. I still can not decide between the fury 795 or 806. The 795 say 1-5 oz and the 806 says 2-8 oz. I have heard that the ratings are not perfect. I would like to throw many different kinds of baits; s-waver 168s 200s 6 inch bull shads, shine glides, magdrafts, citizen 7s, 6 inch huds, maybe 8 inch huds, baitsanity antidote, and anything in between. Basically looking for any advice on rods because there are no stores around me which sell swimbait rods. Thank you for any input at all.
  5. I can send pics on request. 794 is not a rod that gets talked about alot, makes a good <3oz treble swimbait, A-rigs, killer big deep crank rod in my opinion. 190 tyd i pay shipping, 40 for the bullshad. Will ship with the stock hooks on.

  17. I'm looking to trade my champion xp 806 swimbait rod, it's the long handle version. Lookin for a dobyns 908 or dobyns 867 I'd even kick down a little money too. Let me know if anyone is interested I can pm pics The rod is only a few months old and is in great condition
  18. Looking for a dobyns 867 if anyone has one they're willing to part with. Thanks
  19. Ok, let me start off by saying that I've done enough research to know that the 867 is generally regarded as "THE rod" and I'm sure 90% of you probably came in here to tell me the 867 is the better rod. My concern with the 867 is storage. It's too long to fit in the cab of my truck. I work nights and usually leave my gear in the truck and hit the water in the morning when I get out. Not real keen on leaving the rod out in the bed all night. Is the 807 gonna be too stiff for treble hook baits? I know it's a good Hudd rod (which I want) but I would also like to use it to throw hard baits from around 3 oz up to a Deps 250. I already have a 795 and an 806 and I love how they fish.
  20. Hey SU, I have a Dobyns Champion 867 (non XP) and a Shimano Calcutta 401D for sale. The rod has some scratches near the hook keeper and some hook marks i the foregrip, but everything else is fine. The reel has some scratches on the outside, but is near perfect mechanically. Looking to get 200tyd for the rod and 200tyd for the reel. Paypal as friends and family or add 3% for fees. Thanks!
  21. Looking into buying my first swimbait rod and cant decide between a Fury 795 or 806. The smallest size bait i will throw will by a Gantarel Jr. (1.5oz) and was wondering if the 806 is too much rod for the bait, and whats the max realistic weight max for the 806. But i also know i will start wanting to throw bigger baits and knew the 795 would only take me so far. planned on pairing it with a Cardiff 300. i also mostly fish out of my kayak. Thanks everyone and sorry for the long post.

    First hudd fish

Went out today bank fishing with a friend after class and stuck this fish at 4.6lbs. Not huge but it's my first fish on a huddleston and I got to watch her eat it! I saw this fish a week before when she bit just the tail right in front of me so I went down to the same spot and made the same cast with no result. Then I moved about ten yards down the bank and casted past another boulder in the water and wham! She nailed and I set the hook but she didn't stick and I fell down the bank on my back and watched my hudd fly in the air and land in the water in front of me. It had landed in a submerged bush in about a foot of water, I quickly got up and realed up the slack when I saw her making a b-line for the bait. I twitched it and she blew through the Bush and inhaled it at my feet. Awsome!
