Could you still throw the swaver 168 on the 806 or is the rod too overpowered?

prob overpowered for it. you can throw it on the 795. i throw them on a lighter 7'6" rod rated to 1 1/2oz. its hard to find one rod for jig hooks and trebels and all different weights. I think the 806 is more versatile out of those 2. in my opinion you can throw the 168 on a mh or h standard bass rod with a moderate action. Im sure everyone has their own opinion on the matter. check out tactical bassin they do a video of different set ups for s wavers

Yeah i saw that they throw it on a big cranking rod.  I'll probably go with the 806 thanks for all the help and ill just stick to the medium glides for now.

Probably the same with the gantral jr so ill just go with the swaver 200 and regular gantral

you can pretty much toss any every day baits on the 806 and 867. The 807 is your soft bait specialist rod. If anything I think you could save a bit on your reel. There’s a lot of nice reels out there under $200, especially if you buy second hand

Yeah i heard the 795 is good for the light treble hook baits but i heard that it was bad for baits over 3 oz

Does it feel sturdy still at 3.5 oz or does it feel overloaded?

In my experience the Fury 795 is fully loaded at 2.5-3oz (meaning it will flex very well to launch a bait without much user effort). Lighter baits around 1oz do not load the rod much and require you to whip the rod more. Lighter line and a smooth reel help with casting the smaller stuff. Baits over 3.5oz seem to load the rod too much. I will not bomb cast anything that heavy for fear of damaging the rod.

I think ill go up to the 806 and maybe get a big cranking rod for small trebel hook baits.

If you do enough research you'll find that the 867 is considered by many, many anglers to be the best production rod on the market for fishing the 250. I was going to respond so but I got rid of my 250 before owning my 867 and can't speak from personal experience.

You think the shimanos wouldnt be worth it on that rod?

To answer on the tranx vs curado, my curado hasn't shipped yet, so I haven't taken it apart yet.

If you are ever going to hit salt water, even rarely, get the tranx.  Possibly consider the 400 over the 300. Its only slightly wider and nearly the same weight.

I like the high gear with the power handle. A lot. Some people hate it.

Also, keep in mind that the gearing on the curado is not the same as the tranx. If you want a super fast reel, you have to go with the tranx.

I was thinking the 6:6:1 of the curado would be perfect for what I would be doing. I’m not sure about saltwater. But you make a good point that the tranx can do it. And it has the power handle.

Oh im sure they’re worth it. I was under the impression you were on a tighter budget. If not, I’d be getting champion rods over the fury.

I was thinking curado fury for my first rod. Then if I get into the bigger bigger baits you with a tranx champion. Do the champions make that much of a difference over the furys?

Not sure about those specific rods but in general I’d say go with the heavier rated one or you will be buying another rod in 6 months when you want to upsize baits. Just my personal opinion but if your getting into throwing “big baits” I think most lures will come in around 2 oz or higher

I like the feel of them a lot. Don’t have a lot of time with a fury but the taper felt different to me. Like the fury was more stiff right to the tip guide whereas the champs feel like they taper quicker and have some tip. No rod should be a pool cue, even for the biggest baits
