New pb! Crappie crusher

Finally made it to the seven pound club today with this fall slug that clocked in at 7-0 and 21.75 inches, the girth on this fish was unreal, I couldn’t wrap my hand around her tail fully. Miserable conditions, windy, raining, and 39 degrees but they were just right for the big girl to eat8 points -
DRT Klash Ghost Notes
Criglizard and 7 others reacted to chefchris for a topic
Been spending a lot time throwing the ghost when i go out and trying to learn as much as I can about this bait. The other day I went threw just two baits for about an hour at a local pond from shore, took a lot of notes and wanted to pass along what I found, full disclaimer i havent caught any fish on the baits yet but multiple followers and a couple hits (in glide mode) In my findings it seems like a few of the options aren't really super different with almost no noticeable changes in the action. Hope this helps someone cut down the learning curve, anyone else throwing this bait please chime in. I'm making some of my own lips to try out as well. The stock lip gets that bait super deep super fast. Ghost Notes Both baits rigged with 3/0 Mustad KVD Triple Grip Elite Hooks (3) and Rosco Size 5.5 Rings, no lip used on both for below notes. Fished on a Revelation 868 Custom Rod, Shimano Conquest 18 with 65lb Power Pro Super Slick 8 attached to an 18” 30lb. mono leader. Bass, no bumpers 1.Top line tie, whale tail up. Wakes from dead slow to fast 2.Bottom line tie, whale tail up. Wakes from dead slow to fast, with more body and head roll than the top line tie. Bigger wake (fished this way the most) 3.Top line tie, whale tail down. Barely wakes, just under the surface, more of a snake “s” movement 4.Bottom line tie, whale tail down. Wakes, tighter swim. Tail section down 5.Top line tie, V tail short tip on top. Wakes, smoother swim but not as big of a v wake as the whale tail 6.Bottom line tie, V tail short tip on top. Wakes, smoother swim but not as big of a v wake as the whale tail, couldn’t see any real difference. 7.Top line tie, V tail long tip top, fast retrieve wakes, makes bubble trails. Same action as in the drt video when fished along the shallow shoreline 8.Bottom line tie, V tail long tip top, fast retrieve wakes, makes bubble trails. Same action as in the drt video when fished along the shallow shoreline, but fishes easier, less work to get same results as #7 Trout with bumpers, cut as directions suggest that came with the bait Repeated same setups as bass 1.Top line tie, whale tail up. No action on straight retrieve. Worked it with reel pumps and it twitches side to side like a dying trout ran 3-4’ deep? 2. Bottom line tie, whale tail up. Same as #1 but with more of a rolling/dying fish action 3.Top line tie, whale tail down. Swims down 1-2’, walks & swims really nice with reel twitches, glide cadence 4.Bottom line tie, whale tail down. Swims down 2-3’, walks & swims really nice with reel twitches, glide cadence. Got two hits & multiple followers. 5.Top line tie, V tail short tip on top. Walks sick, reel handle and rod pops make it swim down 2’ and walk in place action. 6.Bottom line tie, V tail short tip on top. Same as #5 but with more roll to the whole bait. 7.Top line tie, V tail long tip top. Like #5 but less action, tail straighter 8.Bottom line tie, V tail long tip top. Like #6 but less action, tail straighter8 points -

Ha - all my friends laughed at my Spro rat - I tied it on an immediately blasted a 17” smallie and a few other ones about that size in an area thats only know to produce large numbers of dinks. The bites were VICIOUS. that experience was my gateway to my swimbait addiction lol7 points -

Walking back to the car, guy's walking in and asks, "Any luck?" Me: "Nah nothing today." Guy: "Oh okay...(looks at my rods, one with a Shine Glide, the other with an 8" Hudd)...OHHH, you're fishing for pike and muskie though." Not a question. Me: "Well, whatever'll bite." Guy: "Yeah, just pike and muskie." Thanks boss (thumbs up.jpeg)5 points -

.... for each time someone told me "you won't catch fish on those baits". It's amazing the reasons they come up with. "marketing gimmicks" "those lures only catch fisherman" "fish don't eat fish that big" "what are you fishing for, sharks?" "the splash that makes when it hits the water will scare all the fish for a mile" "you're going to hurt your bad shoulder" (oh wait... that was my wife... and that happened)4 points -

Heck, I used to get those type of comments when I used 9" Slug Go's, 1oz Rat-L-Traps, 6" Pencil Poppers, and other striper baits for largies, back in the 90's/00's. People always laugh until you catch "the biggest fish I've ever seen caught out of here" "didn't know there was fish that big in here"- Love It!!!4 points -

Catch and Win!

Such a tough day today at the Swimbait Universe swimbait tournament and it literally turned around about 30 minutes before weigh in and a few hundred yards from the ramp!! My buddy Cody got hammered on the white wade hoggs and we netted the fish. I got smoked the very next cast on the white baby wake! He netted my fish with his bait still in the net! This 5.21 barely got me a first place finish! Second place had 5.16 caught in the Whippersnapper 2.0! I’m so jacked for this win after the long grind that it was today!2 points -

Question about custom baits
StriperAddict reacted to chefchris for a topic
Illude has a website and IG page, usually messages me back in with 24 hours on IG Go2 is my buddies baits, he post on FB and IG, super limited numbers as he operates a full time business and builds when he can. Best bet is too message him on IG but even as a friend there tough to get baits Most builder now use social media (FB and/or IG) to announce drops, so follow them and turn on notifications, lots of guys will do half the drop on each platform which gives people are decent shot at getting some. can always post a wanted to buy in the black market but with high demand baits and limited numbers be prepared to drop 2-5x retail on some baits or just fish baits that are readily available1 point -
