I recently had someone hook me up big time, I'm very grateful and I really want to pay it forward to the next person. In the spirit of the Holiday season, how crazy the year has been and how many people could use some good vibes and a smile I want to give someone a chance at a free bait. I have a Mattlures Meathead in bluegill, bait is like new, I would really like to see go to someone who needs it, someone new who is getting into big baits, someone who could really use a gift who's had it rough lately or something like that. Please leave a comment if you or someone you know could really use a pick me up right now. I'll pick a winner this Sunday! Thanks SU.17 points

First swimbait
ricardo and 2 others reacted to captainhookset for a topic
LOL all these posts about buying a first swimbait and three casts later they were catching fish...that was not the case for me LOL. Still isn't the case either actually haah Heres photos from my first Huddleston. I had a telescopic Shimano Clarus 7'6"Heavy/Fast action flipping rod that I used to throw the Huddleston and it got the job done. I found the rod in my moms basement a few weeks ago and i thought of this fish. I remember vividly my buddy Chris making fun of me for throwing such a "gigantic" bait that nothing would ever eat it bla bla and BOOM i set the hook and the rest is history. And by history I mean a basement full of baits that look sick as hell but i still can't catch a swimbait fish big enough to post on my IG lol. Another year of dinks. One day....3 points -
PSA - USPS delays - again

Maybe we could start our own SU shuttle service - deliver baits, fish along the way I'm sad to see that I'm not alone with these problems.3 points -
That's awesome of you man, and great job paying it forward, I think everyone falls into that rough year category in one way or another. Hopefully it goes to someone could really use the gesture.3 points

PSA - USPS delays - again
253caster and one other reacted to swimbaitrookie for a topic
After getting better for a while late summer and into fall, USPS is back to some serious delays on shipping packages. It seems that anything coming from the east coast or going through the middle of the country is getting delayed. I've had a package sent Nov 27 that just started moving a couple of days ago and another that took 4 days to get from MA to NH, and no telling how much longer to get to TX. But I've had some baits coming from CA that got here in two days. Might want to consider using UPS or Fedex instead or at least insuring your package for the replacement amount.2 points -
MACKINAW on the 168
brushhawg1 and one other reacted to brendonb for a topic
After spending all day jigging and trolling for mack’s up near Tahoe, with only one solid bite on a magnum spoon, my buddy and I used the last of our battery to fish off the bank for smallmouth. Threw a jerkbait for a bit but switched over to the 168 as the sun set. Thought I had a 7-8lber on the other end until it surfaced. Made paddling an hour (in the dark) back to the truck a bit more easy. Also my first fish on the Antares MD too!2 points -

Caught this in a tournament, I had a ton of bites on the Huddleston mid Collum but I couldn’t seem to hook up on any besides this one, I would guess 6.5-7.5, any thoughts on weight, or how to hook more Huddleston fish? I use one stinger in the back behind the fin2 points -

You'll catch less fish by following the "rules" of fishing than you will by experimenting and learning what works in your waters for your fish. For example: every YouTube video about glide baits say they are for clear water. Yet I've had all my best glide days in chocolate milk. Had I followed the "rules" I would of missed out on the best swimbait bites I've ever been on.2 points -

Get the 400 size. Like has been mentioned, they palm great and don't feel lile a 400 size reel. I've got 6 of the Conquest 400A's, I love em'.2 points -
I think lately there is a lot of supply in the black market, and some really good deals but people are stuck on what others have and seen post of a couple guys catching fish on said baits so they think no other baits can get fish. There are many deals in the BM and remember most of the time it is the swimbaiter that catches the fish not the bait.2 points

You have to find the fish before you can catch them. I.E. Learn fishing before you learn swimbaiting. You should NEVER have to ask, “where should I fish bait x?”. You should be fishing ALL your baits where the fish are.2 points -
