Another midnight eater on the Mode wake

Managed to land one on video today on the harness rig - I didn’t glue in the spring and it didn’t even budge was very secure and this fish had a few nice pulls at the net, just be sure to nail weight your bait properly so it’s balanced to your target depth copy_E9797AF1-98D6-459E-86E7-57E533B68FDF.mov

I had more than 100 hours invested into hudd fishing without a single fish. Well today, it finally happened. If I hadn’t lost my Deps 250 earlier I never would have tied it on. I made a long cast over a prime spot and was retrieving at a slow pace. Near the end of the cast I was watching it swim just 3’ under the surface when this beast came up and gulped it. Feels amazing to finally break into the 8s after all these years of grinding.

Fought the wind gusts that were almost 40 MPH today and managed to land 1 out of 3 NJ smallies on the new Hoog 7” glide. Found a promising hump that I marked and will hit when the time is right IMG_0928.mov

Got to the ramp early today, 30min before sunrise, trying to beat the crowd. That was an epic fail as a 25boat tourney was launching just as I got the boat in. My personal goal this year is a 7+. Been getting them on the 6" magdraft last few trips, up to 5lbs. Wanted to play with the 8" mag and savage gear shine glide today. The glide paid off. Second spot the big girl decided to play. About 12ft deep near downed trees in 53 degree water. Biggest fish for me in close to 6 years. Few stops later got hammered next to a downed tree. Thought it was gonna top the 6.2 as she was dogging me deep. Then she full on breached about 20ft away. Got her boat side and netted then she did the characteristic death roll. A solid 5min to get her untangled and unhooked. Snapped a quick pic and back in the water to swim away strong. Both fish on shine glide in hitch pattern. Tatula 200 on dobyns fury 795 with 50lb suffix braid to 17lb sufix mono. 3rd day of 65+ temps with a storm rolling in tomorrow. Hopefully back on the water next Friday to top these.

Nice! Butch had it figured out. 250 & hudds will always get it done. Problem with the hudds is I lose about 4 for every fish I’ve caught lol! Good job

Congrats, big ole girl

Been chasing this pattern for a month or so now, yesterday I finally hit it right and stuck the first fish of the year on a Deps 250. Fish was 19.5” and weighed 5.5lbs with fresh trout in its gullet.

Just loaded up on trout baits for the April stock we get next week, hoping to get on something nice too. Great fish!

Unacceptable, what could be more important than fishing for giant bass. Always consistent with them catches, either as a team or solo. If you’re finding them with this crazy weather pattern we’ve been having, can’t imagine what the rest of the season is going to bring from you.

65lb braid and 30lb leader material

Decent fish for them conditions for sure. I was out and went 0-1. Good work as always. Look forward to more reports to come. Wheres the sidekick he always seems to be sticking fish as well.

30lb shooter for big glides, 30lb cxx for anything other hardbait that size

I put it when their was trips n dubs left no space cabinet n dirty but a few colors were left

Depends on the bait. They used the ST35 on the TK for a reason. The Sharx were used after ST36 on the other baits. K9 is a 1/0 ST36. Also, split rings are Bombada Forte on the K9, not sure on the TK. I've used Underground #3 on them just fine.

Congrats man , that’s a beast of a smallie! I think a 5lb smallie anywhere in NE is Amazing.

I think the hooks were just a side quest for drt. The outwards barbs will nick your line on erratic hardbaits.

Stock hardware on DRT baits is solid. No need to change out unless you have a specific hardware preference.

Lake Biwa pumps out multiple DDs everyday. Every spring, the lake will pump out a handful of 12-15lb fish. Even guys from shore will catch 12-14lb bass. The lake is very pressured but the fish are so wired there. So much forage to feed on all the time. It is illegal to release bass though but most of the Japanese anglers still release them anyways to basically give the government the middle finger. The government does shocking's every spring and takes out a lot of bass but this isn't necessarily a bad thing. Less bass equals more food for the ones that are still in the lake making them grow extremely large. The reason most guys over here don't see the Japan catches is that algorithms here in the states don't recommend Japanese content to you, you yourself have to go and search it yourself before the algorithm decides to start regularly showing it to you.

First trip out with the bone and it got chewed. Got this 8lb 7oz tank and had another about this size but she spit the bait. I have the c2c but it won’t let me upload it

Raw resin just looks so clean till it doesn’t. I made this one a low float, so it can be fished over grass with ease.

Hell yea brother. Them Gantarel’s are so underrated these days due to all the other available options anglers have in swimbaits these days. Congratulations on the PB. Great summary of events too.
