First Hudd Fish
Broke Boy and 7 others reacted to Fried Lemons for a topic
I had more than 100 hours invested into hudd fishing without a single fish. Well today, it finally happened. If I hadn’t lost my Deps 250 earlier I never would have tied it on. I made a long cast over a prime spot and was retrieving at a slow pace. Near the end of the cast I was watching it swim just 3’ under the surface when this beast came up and gulped it. Feels amazing to finally break into the 8s after all these years of grinding.8 points -

Got to the ramp early today, 30min before sunrise, trying to beat the crowd. That was an epic fail as a 25boat tourney was launching just as I got the boat in. My personal goal this year is a 7+. Been getting them on the 6" magdraft last few trips, up to 5lbs. Wanted to play with the 8" mag and savage gear shine glide today. The glide paid off. Second spot the big girl decided to play. About 12ft deep near downed trees in 53 degree water. Biggest fish for me in close to 6 years. Few stops later got hammered next to a downed tree. Thought it was gonna top the 6.2 as she was dogging me deep. Then she full on breached about 20ft away. Got her boat side and netted then she did the characteristic death roll. A solid 5min to get her untangled and unhooked. Snapped a quick pic and back in the water to swim away strong. Both fish on shine glide in hitch pattern. Tatula 200 on dobyns fury 795 with 50lb suffix braid to 17lb sufix mono. 3rd day of 65+ temps with a storm rolling in tomorrow. Hopefully back on the water next Friday to top these.5 points

Chain pick gang!
Igor Passos and 2 others reacted to appstlhd for a topic
Went out fishing with my parents for Easter today, and managed to get a Chain pickerel on the Megabass I-slide 187R! I got this glide last fall but hadn’t fished it much at all. Saw that pickerel try to eat it and I jerked it out of his mouth; I threw it back in the same spot and he tried to choke it! Not very big but still cool to catch!3 points -
Hey guys! I recently just got into bass fishing (swimbaits) from a buddy who gave me a 9 inch abt trout. Went out for fun and got 2 and now am hooked. Seems like watching a bass eat a giant lure right in front of your eyes has a certain affect on you. I've been looking around online and just join this website last night. Super sick to see many other people who share the same passion in throwing big baits for some bass. Anyways I wanted to expand my collection from one bait to more. I am still in school so the budget is a bit tight, but I can make a few work out. I was primary asking your guys recommendation for glide baits preferably around the $70 to $100 range. I'm always open to used items as it allow me to get a slight discount and help get rid of something from someone else. For the small amount of searching around the internet I've done, some of the popular ones seems to be the drt baits and deps, but idk anything so I may be mistaken on those. Anyways thanks for stopping by and giving this a read, have a good one.3 points

Overall, people think that there is a huge difference between the Hi and Lo. Thing is, they both float. Here’s the difference.3 points -

If bass forage a lot on blue gills I’d recommend a toxic baits whippersnapper. I know it’s not a glide but the thing gets bit. Welcome to SU!2 points

Second rod build
Bass_blaster reacted to Chaozu for a topic
Phenix swimbait rod 1-5oz. Used recoil guides and a cerecoil tip top, and rubber cork. The rubber cork is awesome material that will last forever and feels really good in the hand, definitely gonna use it in future builds. Not perfect but built like a tank, didn’t measure a damn thing lol. San Jose Sharks themed check it out.1 point -

3\30 first glide bait fish(s)
MountainMan83 reacted to DEPS_250 for a topic
Thank you for the very informative write up and review on the Dobyns Fury 795SB. Based on your review and everyone else's review here on SU, I am feeling more confident that I made the right choice and that I am eventually going to like the rod. For the past 3 months I have been trying to track one down in a local tackle shop in order to get a feel for the rod before committing to a purchase. Unfortunately, I could not find one in any of the local tackle shops around me. Lasy Monday I said 'screw it' and bit the bullet and decided to buy one online sight unseen. It'll be here tomorrow or Monday and I am already planning on taking it out to the water as soon as possible so I can compare it to my current swimbait rod. Here's to hoping I made the right choice, as well as hoping the rod's capabilities can fulfill my every need in glide bait fishing.1 point -

First Hudd Fish
Fried Lemons reacted to Mossyback Angler for a topic
Gotta love them Hudds. Sucks to loose the 250, but maybe it was meant to be, so you had to tie that hudd on and catch the new PB. Personally, I think the reward mitigates the loss. Congratulations on an exceptional PB, well done.1 point -

DRT Ghost Reviews
jbernaeyge reacted to chefchris for a topic
So here's my notes from when i fished mine, i only got 3-4 trips in my it, no fish, but a couple of hits and a bunch of followers, excited to throw it a lot this season, as I picked up some other lips and made a few myself, with the roll lip i bottomed it out in 18' of water on a sandy bottom, it gets down fast and stays down. I'm super stoked to fish this bait a lot this season. Also for a big bait it actually casts surprisingly well and far, due to the fact that almost all the weight is in the front section of the bait so the tail sections just follow it on the casts. It casts way further and easier than the bubba cracker for being twice the length and close to the same weight. Ghost Notes Both baits rigged with 3/0 Mustad KVD Triple Grip Elite Hooks (3) and Rosco Size 5.5 Rings, no lip used on both for below notes. Fished on a Nameless 868 Custom Rod, Shimano Conquest 18 with 65lb Power Pro Super Slick 8 attached to an 18” 30lb. mono leader. Bass, no bumpers 1.Top line tie, whale tail up. Wakes from dead slow to fast 2.Bottom line tie, whale tail up. Wakes from dead slow to fast, with more body and head roll than the top line tie. Bigger wake 3.Top line tie, whale tail down. Barely wakes, just under the surface, more of a snake “s” movement 4.Bottom line tie, whale tail down. Wakes, tighter swim. Tail section down 5.Top line tie, V tail short tip on top. Wakes, smoother swim but not as big of a v wake as the whale tail 6.Bottom line tie, V tail short tip on top. Wakes, smoother swim but not as big of a v wake as the whale tail, couldn’t see any real difference. 7.Top line tie, V tail long tip top, fast retrieve wakes, makes bubble trails. Same action as in the drt video when fished along the shallow shoreline 8.Bottom line tie, V tail long tip top, fast retrieve wakes, makes bubble trails. Same action as in the drt video when fished along the shallow shoreline, but fishes easier, less work to get same results as #7 Trout with bumpers, cut as directions suggest that came with the bait Repeated same setups as bass 1.Top line tie, whale tail up. No action on straight retrieve. Worked it with reel pumps and it twitches side to side like a dying trout ran 3-4’ deep? 2 Bottom line tie, whale tail up. Same as #1 but with more of a rolling/dying fish action 3.Top line tie, whale tail down. Swims down 1-2’, walks & swims really nice with reel twitches, glide cadence 4.Bottom line tie, whale tail down. Swims down 2-3’, walks & swims really nice with reel twitches, glide cadence. Got two hits on this retrieve. 5.Top line tie, V tail short tip on top. Walks sick, reel handle and rod pops make it swim down 2’ and walk in place action. 6.Bottom line tie, V tail short tip on top. Same as #5 but with more roll to the whole bait. 7.Top line tie, V tail long tip top. Like #5 but less action, tail straighter 8.Bottom line tie, V tail long tip top. Like #6 but less action, tail straighter Hope that helps some people cut the learning curve down. you can also install the stock lip in backwards which makes into a wake that will push thru weeds/pads, has a lot of resistance but another option another thing you can do is take that TK and Klash lips and add a thin piece of plastic to the back of it where it slips into the bait and modify the lips, you need em to be super snug but another option to get even more out of this bait.1 point
