Fellas! This winter has been unkind to New England a tease of early ice out followed by 2 destructive and heavy storms that left 300k out of power in Maine alone... Power restored on Friday with 15" of recent snow still melting has kept our water around or under 40 degrees since we opened up March 15 or so .... The show must go on. Caught this good one on the Hogfather glide (thanks @Cristo killer bait) she ate in 5 feet on a painfully slow retrieve (as suggested!) and guys, I was STOKED! I'm pretty much a newb and obsessed of course -starting off much better than last year for sure! It's fun to learn a little while failing... maybe I can learn how to take a fish pic this season :) LOVE IT

Old pictures but I’m fairly new here so figured I’d post them. Caught them in the 100 degree heat on a magdraft. Biggest went 7.04 and the other was 5 and change.

The stoke was real 4/2/24. I had went to the lake hoping for my third fish over seven pounds this year. My goal has always been to break PB’s but the last three years I have been trying to catch three bass over 7#’s in a season. My last trip, in two days I had broke three PB’s. I caught a 7.8 the first day and a 7.9 the second, beating my best largemouth twice. I also got my best bag ever of 30.25 pounds on the second day. I returned a week later and the prize was in my sights. I had high hopes this week but we all know how that can work out. Today however was my day. Half a dozen casts in I had my third 7, a nice chunky 7.25, making the goal I had set. I was very happy. I took a quick break. Realizing all that was left for me was another PB or maybe that DD. I didn’t care, I was enjoying the moment. I got back to fishing because that’s what I love to do. 1 hour later……11# 8oz. Elusive beast Thanks to all of you who inspired me to grind for these fish. I have learned so much. Set your own goals and pursue them. I’m setting new goals as we speak and look forward to hearing about all your catches/ and upcoming adventures. In all seriousness the IGFA has some strange rules when it comes to landing and logging a true world record will a swimabit fish fall in its own category or will it be considered a big game fish since we're using 20lb mono and 300 size reels lol

Not gonna lie if I saw a 20lber , jigs and live bluegill would be very tempting lol, but for the sake of being on a Swimbait forum, what swimbaits would yall throw?

Yes I was experimenting with some lead wire I picked up at my local bass pro. Just wrapping it around the hook shanks until I get the desired effect. I typically use golfers lead tape which I prefer but over time it always seems to start peeling around the edges for me. I’ll probably test out some of those grenade weights next.

TK for sure. I've started putted in time with larger swimbaits though too and been doing fine. Try a 250 or something similar and you might be pleasantly surprised. And a rat at night works anywhere

Just finished up this pair, one being for a coworker. Was gonna throw the other one towards the swap but since we’ve got till the end of May I’ll just build a couple more and document the process along the way. Made of Poplar wood 5.5” body / 10” with tail ~3.5 oz
