Looks like it would discourage tailgaters.

I rod, on the reel it depends on what you're doing. for slow crawl heavy I would step up from the cardiff to a calcutta , for glides you want to to get the speed up a bit, there a lot of cheaper options . My best advice is to not buy stuff because its cheap, wait, save and buy the good stuff, you won't be sorry.

To me bottom crawling top hook swim baits and glide baits are two completely different animals and require completely different rigs.

If I could go back in time where swim baiting is concerned, I would go back further in time and buy a Hudd the first time I saw one.

San Justo. a little lake outside Hollister. Haven't fished there for 15 years but it had decent bass in it then. It was electric only with rental bass buggy's.

A-Rigs are truly a big fish bait, my big fish of last year came on one. I agree with Nolan on the Kietech swing impact fat with blades, the no blades have their place also, only difference is I go smaller on the non hook arms. Tactical Bassin has some good vids on them.

Maybe I should just stick with WD40

I'm curious to know SU members opinions on using attractants on swim baits. If you think they help or not worth the mess. If you do use them, which attractants do you like?

I have good news for all you big bass hunters, there are more big bass out there than you think. The problem is they are smart, How many times in the life of a big bass has she been on a boat? How many bass have you caught that showed signs of hook damage? How many are spitting out a plastic worm on their way up? They learn. the sound of your trolling motor, The ping of your graph, the sound of fisherman's voices and maybe even the sound of wind chop slapping against the hull, they learn. These fish are 5, 10 maybe 15 yrs. old or better. I tournament fished from 85 to 05 with better than moderate success, "First out of the money" was my nickname. I can drop shot. split shot or what ever get bit technique with anybody. I got out of tournaments because I could not keep up with the swim baiters, My window for being competitive was growing smaller and smaller, certain times on certain lakes, that was it, I became a dinosaur, Chapter Two: The New Me I only care about big bass and big bass only, to think of the years I have wasted fishing for bites and numbers I cringe. I now throw back 5lbers as I used to throw back cookie cutter dinks, not that I catch that many they're just not what I'm after. My mindset has changed. I knew it changed some years ago when my buddy and I had caught only 1 fish when we came along some tournament fisherman that asked "how you doin'" we answered "just one" they replied "we got at least 50" and before we lost sight of them they caught 2 more on their drop shots or neds rigs or what ever dink slayers they were throwing, I almost felt sorry for them, my mindset had changed. Where will the big girl be? why will she be there? When does she feed? and on what? What is her prey doing? It is a mistake to think you only have a small window to catch her, late feb, march maybe april. She is in the lake all year, she feeds all year, you can catch her all year.
