  1. I see that they are available at TW: Shimano SLX A Swimbait Casting Rods Does anyone have any favorable feedback on this rod yet? I'm really curious as to whether its decent for a budget rod and whether its capable of throwing what its rated?
  2. Yo SU, I am looking for some feed back on the Cookai vs Blackjack vs Valkyrie World Expedition 711XH vs Casino. I currently own the Valkyrie World Expedition 711XH. I have heard the VWE711XH is very similar to the blackjack. Can anyone confirm this? And is the Cookai series softer/bend more into the blank than the 711XH/Blackjack? Pretty much plan on throwing k9's on the rod I choose. Any guidance would be appreciated! Thank you

  14. Looking to buy 2 swimbait Rods. One for trebles that will hold 3-4 ounces and another rod for 68 huds and 8inch huds. I think I’ll prob get tranx reels for both Rods
  15. Looking to step into a light swim bait setup for mattlures gills and other tremble baits. Was considering this blank for a build due to its length, weight and ratings. 7'6" rod are easy for me to transport but anything longer becomes a real pain. My 8 Footers just suck to move. Its rated for umbrella rigs which is one thing i would like to throw along with 10XD's and smaller treble swimbaits. Also curious if this would make a good hud 68 rod as people say a little slower action is good for that. http://pointblankrods.com/2015/04/27/76/
  16. Looking to buy a right hand shimano tranx 400 size. Also, a dobyns 806 swimbait rod and deps 175.

  19. I have a St croix Mojo Bass Swimbait Rod 7'9" H. In good condition $115 tyd
  20. Selling my 9ft LDC XXH and lexa 300 high speed. Haven't been doing the swimbait thing for a while so not sure what these are currently going for, so I'm asking 250 for the rod OBO, local pick up in Orange County California is preferred. 100 for the reel, willing to ship.
  21. This is my second swimbait rod. Amazing rod through and through. It medium fast taper, has 9 guides plus the tip, 8', handle length of 16". But the remarkable thing about this rod is it's rating of 1/2-8oz! Now I don't really throw anything larger than 5 ounces so I haven't been able to throw its limit. But on the lower end I can cast a whopper plopper 130 just as good as any other rod and then snap on a 9" slammer and it casts with just as much ease. I have my rod currently paired with a new shimano tranx. This is my newest setup and have yet to stick a swimbait fish up in my area this season but still plenty of time. A cool thing about the rod though is that it comes with its own custom rod sock. Not a mesh but just a black plastic sheath. The handle is removable and fits into its own sheath inside of the one for the rod itself and they all zip up for safe transportation. This also knocks off about a foot off the handle for all you guys who have rod tubes built onto your truck. With this setup I am using 65# braid due to the fact that I have a strong geared reel that can pick up 30 inches of line per turn, and the rod itself has a very nimble taper. I'm getting enough give from the rod itself to justify the braid. This setup is mostly for throwing my broomstick style baits and top water rats.
  22. As the title says. PM me if you've got one you're willing to part with. I have a Megabass Levante, leviathan series rod if that interests you as part of a trade. Thanks.
  23. Looking to sell a practically brand new 7'11" Phenix M1 inshore Heavy, 2-6 oz 15- 30lb casting rod. Bought at Bay Tackle, used twice. In like new condition. 160 cash or trade for 301e curado. Located in downtown SF. Local pickup only. Can send pictures on request. Thanks
  24. Not sure if this is the right thread for this, but I've been saving up a bit of money for a swimbait rod up to $300. I have never used a true dedicated swimbait rod or owned one. So I would like some first person experience help here. I've found 2 rods I really prefer. The Dobyns Champion 796sb and LDC MH/H 7'9". The reason for this is I prefer shorter rods, full foam handles and I dont like cork or split grip for chucking heavy lures. I know the LDC comes with the spiral wrap. If you can give insight on pros/cons about that also, it would be helpful. If you guys/gals can give some insight on either rod it would be appreciated.
  25. Hey everyone I'm still new to the swimbait game and been trying to read up and learn as much as I can about big baits! I have gift cards to Cabela's ($170) and Bass Pro ($125) and was wondering from your experience which is better to get a rod and a reel from. I have cards for the amounts listed, I can add more $ with some budgeting and time. I have bought a few large swimbaits and love to throw them. So far I have Deps Bullshooter 160's and Jr, Bulldozer 160, and SS 175. I also have a few S-wavers and black dog baits shellcracker and shellcracker G2. My current hardware is limited. I have a Cabela's Tournament Trail rod weighted for 3/4 - 2 1/4 oz. This rob is more than maxed out with my current baits and I need to move to a better setup. I also have an older Abu Garcia 6600 that was previously used to salt water fish but I've restored it for swimbaits. I am looking to invest in a rod that can throw Deps 250's and Bullshooter 190's as well as the current baits I have. So a rod in the 2-8 oz range would be perfect. Also should I buy a different reel or keep the Abu Garcia? I think it's a 6600 and 5:2:1 gear ratio. I don't have a lot of $ and would like to use the gift cards. I've researched their websites and BPS seems pretty slim, Cabela's is more promising but expensive. Saw the Okuma SST at Cabela's and BPS had a St. Croix Legend which is $290 and rated 1-4 oz. I'm down here in eastern NC if anyone local has any advice. Which baits, time of year, color, technique, anything is welcome. I mainly bank fish in small to medium bodies of water. Had some luck on swimbaits but haven't had the tools to really see what I can catch with them.
