So I picked up a spro 40 morning dawn last year after seeing the popularity on here, didn't get to use it much since it was late in the season and I didn't get out much, it did get some attention had 2 hookups (smaller) and 2 missed blowups. So I would like to add some more rats to my arsenal but I'm really only looking for ones close to the size of the Spro 40/50's I'm going to pick up a brown 50 this year hoping it might draw some bigger bites, also been looking pretty hard at the cl8 water voles (seem to be popular on here to) is there any other rats in that size that I should be on the look out for? I know most would say get a giant rat because they have had good success with there's but the bass around here don't really seem to pay any attention to the bigger top water baits, I've only had 1 missed strike on a 7in slammer and not even a sniff on my 9in

Got out today with Kennebecstriper for some Patriots bye week fishing. Conditions were cold and windy. She bit maybe two cranks into my retrieve slowly waking it back to shore. She bounced between 4.4-4.5. Gotta love catching topwater fish in November. I can safely say this is the latest ive ever caught a topwater fish.

Went out today for a couple hours, it was cold and windy. Figured Id toss around the pats and negotiator since the conditions looked right but neither of those got any love. Deceided to try a shallow cove at this new pond I recently discovered with the johnny rat. The fish hit right at the bank after I paused to check why my finger was bleeding profusely (decoy quads are really sharp). I looked at my bait and had a fish right under it, gave it a quick twitch and she slammed it. This is the latest in the year ive ever caught a topwater fish here in MA. The fish weighed 3.5 but by the looks of it should have been heavier. Tight lines everyone, Sam

Here is a rat ive been working on for about a week, this is my first homemade swimbait, i first went to a woodcarver i know and hand himsketch out a pattern and make blanks for me out of jelutang and red ceadar, then i carved it off by hand, then i sanded it, made joint, attached eyelets and still needs a bill, what do you guys think of it, does it need weights?
