I’m pretty new to the website so I’m not exactly sure if this is the right form to post in but I was wondering if anyone has tried putting an extra few coats of clear coat to help with hook rash? I have a can of aerosol KBS diamond clear which sprays super thin layers compared to the dip or brush on cans of kbs. I’ve read some posts about repaints and paint wraps on drt baits and people are saying it affects the action.. Not super sure how much I believe that for repaints especially if you were to strip off the old paint and put new paint without a super thick layer of clear coat? I think I could see more potential for effected action with a wrap. I haven’t fished these baits much so I could definitely be wrong! You guys will know better than me. Anyways Im thinking of spraying a few coats on my k9 to help with hook rash. If any of you have tried it or have an opinion let me know!

Got this thing back from my man Jason and he did a terrific repaint. I told him I wanted it to be bright and he delivered. His flash gill “with chartreuse”... really stoked. Gonna be hard to rash it up! Hard to capture on a pic but the paint around the gills changes color from green to deep purple.

So I have this 9” suicide glide. I love the action, and I got it on a good deal at my local tackle shop. BUT, I got it in clear lake hitch. (Was only color left) So now I want to repaint to a rainbow trout pattern. My question is what do I need to prep for paint? Sand? Acetone? Just spray right on it?

Finally finished this remake on a rafa Shad glide I picked up off the black market. Bait was originally trout pattern and had some paint chips. stripped it down, sanded it, removed the eyes, resealed it, primed, painted, scaled, hand painted gold scales and cheeks and herring dot. for the epoxy I mixed these special automotive grade flakes along with some holo pearl into the true coat epoxy. stoked on how it came out. Will install the original tail and be fishing it this week as our herring ponds are still seeing fish coming in and dropping out. some before and after pics.
