bbfishin
I can't say I was too happy when my release button on my reel got stuck and I had to abort casting my 3:16 10" freestyle a few days ago! And yes, as you can tell from my subject title, the 30 lb test line ended up snapping and the swimbait went flying off and yes, it was a slow sinker! I tried all different kinds of methods to retrieve it...snagging, using a large magnet, using a 16 foot extension pole with a net on the end, etc. All of which were unsuccessful. The weeds are still somewhat high over here so that made seeing it impossible. So, the only other option... A swimbaiter has got to do what a swimbaiter has got to do sometimes! No, it wasn't me since I'm not certified in scuba but after this episode, I'm considering it!

bbfishin
Yeah, I'm pretty happy that I got it back as well since I have been doing very well on that freestyle the past month! The guys were super nice in helping me get the bait back but they are used to diving for glasses and phones that drop into the lake all the time. No, he didn't find anything else down there. I'll be respooling my reel with some fresh line now as I'm a bit afraid to be launching the bait out again with the same line. I thought it had snapped on the knot but actually it snapped three feet up. Another good reminder to always check your line and remove a few feet every time. Usually, I do that but sometimes these things just happen unfortunately.

BigBaitStripers
At Castaic Lake the lifeguards will help retrieve a lost swimbait. A couple buddies have had them dive for baits. They were 1 for
