Ceaser
You can get Tig rod at any welder supply spot. It comes in like 3ft lengths. The nails will.do the job, just an fyi. Carbin rods are cheap on the web too. Bait looks good, grind on man danthefisherman
JR Basser
Ah. I see now. It's too late anyways though, I already started lol Yea, I'd say no scales. The scales on a trout are so tiny it'd be tough to replicate,, a smooth finish would allow a wrap to stick better also. Awesome work man danthefisherman

Ran out of likes for the day lol! I actually started on the scales yesterday. Couldn't decide whether to do it or not to do it, so I just did it in the end. Now I wish I had invested in making two molds Like Anthony said. I have a looong way to go. Just gotta stick to it with patience and a clear head. swim16, Swimbait24/7, Ceaser and 2 others
Hhunn
Looks good man. No hand carved bait is going to be 100 percent realistic. Focus on finishing the front part and making a mold. danthefisherman
Kry29
You can finish the scales and mold that bait. Then get some wood putty or filler and you can fill in the scales and make it a slick sides bait again for another mold. Just make sure you seal it real good before you mold other or the putty might want to come off. I've never done that but it sounds like it should work and really you have nothing to lose. danthefisherman
danthefisherman
Here's a few more progress photos...classes have started so I haven't had as much time to work on it as I would like. Slow and steady. The scales are actually starting to look pretty good now!For more photos, I've created an album in the Gallery section http://swimbaitunderground.com/forums/index.php?/gallery/album/130-keeper-glide/You can also check out "lilpiggyswimbaits" on Instagram for more up-to-date progress. Thanks everyone for the encouragement and affirmation! danthefisherman
Finally ready to start the mold...exams have been pretty heavy recently with two more coming up soon.Anyways, I was wondering if you guys have any thoughts regarding the hooks I'm going to use. These are Owner 3X Stinger Trebles (ST-56) in size 1/0. Does 3X strength seem to be a little overkill? I recall that 2X strength is the go-to of many of you guys on here. My main issue would be if the heavier hooks affect the glides action in a negative way. I already posed the question on Instagram, but I wanted to here the what the rest of you might have to say.Any input appreciated, thanks!DTF
