Dsouth
Great guys, thanks for the info I'm defiantly going to try these tips for the spring! You fish SM at Onota or do you come east and fish the Q? I’m a Q Cape SM guy but Onota is on my hit list. danthefisherman, evilcatfish, twil93 and 1 other
Ruef_Top
I am taking a trip to the Q this summer for about a week, but I am primarily a Onota guy. It’s a huge sleeper lake out in the West for smallmouth and it defiantly holds some monsters, you just have to find them. It’s defiantly worth a trip out this way because either way you’ll catch a trophy class slammer or largie with big baits
Bloodkitty
Matt's 6" strong shad is a good one.
Mossypumpkin
Hinkle Shad, Deps 250, 11†TT, Swaver 200, 9†and 12†slammer have been good for me. At night, WSB rat and gill have been good at night along with a slammer

Is Onota free of ice? evilcatfish and Ruef_Top
urbanhick
I have caught them on the RP perch, hudd 68 perch, 8" hudd in trout, bullshooter 160, DRT Tiny Klash, Mattlures hammer tail gill and have had wolf packs of giants follow a deps 250. They will eat them all.
Rangermike
We smash them in the 3-6 range on St Clair using topshelf swimbaits. That's what kvd used the win an elite series on southern smallies, I think Smith mountain lake. Perfect size IMO fit big smallies
